View Full Version : Forum Moderator Call: New Moderator Announced!

Attention UK Forum Members: The moderators believe that it would be best to add another moderator to our team. We are searching for someone who will be able to commit to a regular schedule of moderating. Moderating entails everything from handling minor tasks such as deleting spam threads to more complicated tasks such as resolving conflicts with users and improving the forum to the best of our ability. We will do our best to accommodate any small lapses in schedules where you may be busy, just as we expect the new moderator to take care of the forum when another mod or two is busy. However, it would be best if an applicant had a more lenient schedule.
Upon submitting an application to become a moderator, you can include skills and qualities that would make you a wonderful mod and addition to the moderating team, things that you love about the forum, etc. We want someone who will have a passion for the job, and also the ability to handle such a responsibility! We hope to see applications from many members and look forward to making our ultimate decision.

It's certainly fine to include your name, age, and location. But the most important things are to give us a general idea of your availability, and then all of the information listed in the second paragraph. :)

Luci, if you want to apply, then go for it! You have nothing to lose by applying. ;)
Also, last names are not mandatory, but first names would be nice.

Last name, "real" name (on Koos' behalf, etc isn't completely necessary. A first name will do just fine.

Of course, Koos! You have been around for a while and we have a good knowledge of who you are, in addition to the information supplied on your application, so that shouldn't be a problem! :)
We will contact anyone if we have any additional questions or want more clarification. It's better to give more than to give less, though!

We do not have an official deadline just yet. We're going to see how many applications we have in a week or so, and then we will decide when to wrap up the process. But don't worry, we'll give plenty of notice beforehand!

I know we have a few new members, so there is something I would like to clear up. First and foremost, we will be accepting applications from all members. How long you have been a member doesn't give you an advantage to a newer member. It's all about who the mods can agree will be the best moderator and will work the best with us. From the aforementioned information, this means that the moderators will be making the decision. There is no voting process to worry about or anything like that. All you need to do is submit the proper information to the moderator of your choice. We will review all of the applications and discuss them until we come to our ultimate decision. We wouldn't want this process to turn into a popularity contest or anything like that. The process is more about merit than dues.
Do we send them in to you? :\
As it was stated before, you can send to any of the mods, Marianne, Mary, Natalie and me.

Yes. At the present, we don't have an incredibly large number of members or posts to moderate, so one new mod should be sufficient.

Katie has already resigned. I believe Geo will be staying around a while longer, but I won't officially speak on her behalf. Even it she would decide to step down, I do believe that one new moderator would be sufficient. Marianne has a busy schedule at the moment but she is a committed moderator nevertheless, and then the new moderator would make four with Natalie and I.
