First of all, awesome job. I like how to used form in your drawing.
Second, maybe you could possibly try drawing the hair differently? I'm NOT saying how you drew it was bad, because it wasn't... but you could also try getting the main shape of the hair outlined lightly, and then maybe do light lines and blend them together for the hair.
It's hard to explain, sorry.... I wish I could explain it better. It's usually easier to demonstrate when you're drawing it right in front of somebody's face.
