Kennedy's Sketches

I started a sketchbook a couple of months ago, and here's what i have so far. Everything's taken with a camera because the sketchbook is too big for the scanner, so part of the drawing would get cut off. To make these i use a .7 mechanical pencil, q-tips to shade, and regular erasers.

All artwork additional work i do will be posted once later in the thread, and added to this post.

I'm not trying to be mean, because these drawings aren't too bad, but you should try using form in some of your drawings.

I'll have to go find out what "form" is. I've never taken art outside of elementary and middle school classes, and god knows they rarely teach you how to do drawings like this, ha.

I meant value.


Value gives it shape, as in you add little details such as shadows.
I can't explain it, yet it's so simple to explain. Gahh. I suck.

Oooooh, okay, yeah i get it now, haha. Yeah, shading is something that ALWAYS pisses me off. Up until where i give up on it because i either can't fix it or i keep making it worse. Aha. )=

I hateeeee shading. All my drawings look grat until I start shading. I always start off extremely light and then gradually get darker in the spots that need to be darkened.

Yeah, for two of my drawings i just colored really dark on another sheet of paper and then rubbed the paper all over the page of the sketchbook so i had a really light starting shade. Although i did that more because i had no idea where to start... But that's not the point. What happens a lot is that i go darker than i need to, so i have to erase and start over. -_-
