Hah! I know! i wonder how many love confessions "Tom" will be signing in a near future
I think this is actually quite cute idea.

Super cute idea! I love it! ...and for $25? Not too bad considering it's personalized with their handwriting. <3 This would be such an amazing gift.
I wonder how it's done...

It's digitally printed, so basically they have a font which is the exact copy of the actual handwriting and just like with every other font in Word or somewhere else, they write and print it to the poster with a printed signature.
This is such a great gift for a TH fan. I'd love to get one or two to give as a present, but the posting of that sized items would cost a fortune, so it's not going to work for my purpose so well

I gotta start thinking of kinky phrases to have printed in Tom's handwriting, with signature and all

In the page it says it's "fascsimile" so yeah it's not their own hands writing it, it's as Amdee said, they use a replica of the boys' handwriting and form the phrase.

So this is probably the surprise they were planning for us? For the fans, involves the band, no?

This is quite cool!! Christmas present for me!!
Oh, the only downside to the $25.00 is that it's not a full-sized poster, it's only 12 inches by 16 inches...you can get a slightly larger one (16x20), but then it's almost $40.00! Oh well, the boys gotta make money somehow! lol. ;-)

They should use this font to write me a check of... let's say, 5.000$ ?
Come on, Bill. You just have to sell one of your jackets =D
Seriously, that thing reminds me of my greatest childhood trauma.

HAHA What's cooler than having Tom confessing to TORG on a pretty little poster in his own handwriting and then have his "TOW" signature on top of it? I don't think you can get any cooler than that
The font thing is a great idea. Haven't other people used it before? I'm sure I've seen Tom's handwriting in sentences he deffinitely wouldn't write lol. Is there a way to download it or something? methinks I'd like to have it.
Seriously, this band comes up with the funniest sh*t to try to keep the fans interested. Who's their advisor with this type of things? do THEY come up with it? hhahaha. This whole thing somehow reminds me of those birthday messages you could record for the twins' 20th birthday. Talk about brilliant ideas  those messages were THE SH*T. I'm sure they had a blast hearing them. I should do the same for my birthday

Wow, this is soo cool. I'm waiting for a few late birthday presents for a few friends and relatives, so maybe I'll drop hints and leave the poster pages up on my laptop.
Thanks for the heads up! :)

Lola, fans have copied and programmed their handwritings to fonts, but I don't know where to download/get those.
I have no idea what I would do with a poster like that, but I'm tempted to get myself one. For once we can show our love for other banmdmembers than just Bill, so h*ll yes!

Btw, thanks for the font. I've been searching for it sometimes.
Gata Gulosa
November 6th, 2010, 04:03 AM
You're welcome.
I wouldn't buy the poster because:
1. I see no point in having a fake autograph hanging on my wall.
2. I support bands by buying CDs and going to shows. The rest is made by fat producers and these people won't get a cent of my money.
But that's my opinion. Everybody does what they like with their own money =D
Amdee
November 6th, 2010, 04:07 AM
Those fat producers get majority of the money anyway - also from CD's and concert tickets, so I don't see a big difference there.
But you're right: whatever feels right for anyone.
Gata Gulosa
November 6th, 2010, 04:14 AM
Yeah, it's true they get the majority of the money, but the band works for it.
As for this, I'm not sure the band will ever get a cent from it.
Amdee

Yeah, it's true they get the majority of the money, but the band works for it.

That's something that really sucks. When I buy music from little independent bands/aretist, I love the way I know they've taklen care of everything themsaelves and when I pay for the album, I know it all (or minus a small reward for the record store) goes to them themselves. Sometimes I've bought music directly from the artist/band and it's even better.
Unfortunately it can't work that way when we talk about band this big. I wish it would, though.
But I personally think that official merch incomes have the same kind of deals like albums and concerts and the artist get his/their part of the "cake" as well.
Gata Gulosa
November 6th, 2010, 08:30 AM
Yeah, buying from independent artists is a lot better, because you know where your money goes. Unfortunately, most bands have to go commercial at some point =/
I don't know what are the deals for merch, but I don't believe artists make a lot of money with it - if any money at all.
For those posters for example, they need to buy the rights of the pictures to the photographer, but I'm not sure the permission of the model is required. (I've been told it wasn't as the photographer owned all rights on his work.)
Plus, if they slightly change just one letter in the handwriting, they don't have to pay a cent to the band to use it. (That's what I would do if I were a producer and I have no doubt they know about that.)
The pictures are certainly official pictures of the band. But I wouldn't bet my house on them being paid for this kind of merch.
Amdee
November 6th, 2010, 09:07 AM
If it official, then it's something done in co-operation with the band/therir management and in that case I'm 99,9% sure they have a deal which explains clearly of what % (or something) of official merchandise belong to the band. Part f off.- merch go to the artist/band/athlete etc., no matter what it is. If someone is so stupid that doesn't requiere a deal of his/their part of off. merch then it's something incredibly fool thing to do. And things like buying the photos is not necessaruy, because surely the company called Tokio Hotel owns the photos already, so they have all right to use them anyway they like.
Unofficial products are all - of course - only for the benefit of the person selling them.
Gata Gulosa
November 6th, 2010, 10:15 AM
Yeah, you must be right. I was just pointing out they had a lot of ways to make sure to pay very little to the band, even if there was a deal. It doesn't prevent them from being fooled.
It would be interesting to ask Bill how much exactly he and the band earn with merch. Like, somewhere between the true love question and the "Why did you call the band TH ?".

I´m not that far away... ;)
Anyway, a poster doesn´t weight that much even if it´s big, so it should cost that much to send it to someone. Depends on how far away you are sending it of course.
I think this is a nice idea and I´m going to check it out. Could be fun to have a poster that I decided how it should look.

but the posters like these doesn't mean anything to me.
To me a signature and a note should be written by the person's own hands.

Same. It would just feel wierd to me to have a fake message and signature no matter how funny the message is.
Though I've been thinking about buying one and just not putting a message because I do like some of the posters.

Haha, this is absolute gold!
But yeah, it is sort of meaningless to be able to make your own posters and have them 'sign' it.
It would be much for meaningful to have the experience of lining up (with feelings of excitement) and then actually getting it signed.
