Tokio Hotel will (allegedly) release a "Best Of"-Album on December 13th 2010.

Three versions are already listed on Amazon.de:

THFC.DK can finally confirm the awesome news that Tokio Hotel is relasing not one, but THREE ‘Best of’ albums this december, just in time for the christmas tree.
We sadly do not have many informations so far, except we can confirm that the photoshooting done in Hamburg not long ago was for the the cover of the new albums. We don’t know if the albums will have new songs as well…

All I can say is that is that I'm not sure if this ius good or bad. What I want to say is trhat I hope the band doesnb't expect new things making suddenly supwerduper lot of money, because I don't think they will.

I will buy it, of course, but interesting...

My personal guess is that it is because a) they need some monmey and b) to keeo0 fans satisfied, because we've all heard so much complaining of notr getting any new music?
My thinking is that they're doing it for the same reason that they did Scream (which was also kind of a Best Of album): as a way to entice fans who might have been put off by the new sound of Humanoid. I very seriously doubt they expect to make a ton of money off it.

Though I do feel the tiniest bit of irritation. I wish they'd just release a new single with an acoustic B side of an old song or something like that.

They're almost half the price. Makes me wonder if this meant to be a French release and the ones in Germany really are imports. :confused:

They are definitely inviting fans to stalk. They are very aware of what it means when they release the date they are at Berlin's airport. They know very well. I don't feel even slightly disturbed when/if pics are leaked tomorrow. They literally invited fans to come up with cameras.

IO'm a bit confused of this concept. I don't know if I should be excited or not. Yes, it's always great to have new music, but this feels so weird: Best of at this point? Releasing twins being here? New tracks? Imports from France? The timing is interesting. The reason for all of this is so... confusing. WHY this all right now? I understand that they need atytention, but from who and why and what are they plans exactly from now on? I think attention is the main reason behind all of this. I try to think positive and not to worry, so I'll just wait.

P.s. I just checked: French albums are at normal price.

Edit. About interest in SA co0ncerts. I think they've noticed that SA concerts haven't interested in so many people outside SA. The most affective rumor mill and info center is still in Europe and I don't think Europe has been so excited of thios as they should, which possibly affects on general interest in global TH community. Even if it's not fair, I think TH needs to treat Europe well to keep their world wide organization running. Just guessing...

You see, Amdee, they care about Europe. They don't care about America and that's why their coming and goings here are not being reported. This makes me feel sad because I want them to "conquer" America, but at the same time, I guess I can feel glad that they can come here and feel safe and normal and they can just work without being hassled by fans or the media.

It'll be interesting to see which tracks are on the albums.

I think they're releasing them now because of the concerts and because they're hoping people will buy them as holiday presents -- and then it's the last we're going to hear from them for a year (or more?) except for whatever's going to happen with the Humanoid release in Japan in February.

The best of will be their gift before they vanish for some time (who knows how long?), so I can't be 100% excited about it. But I'm not going to that now.

Now, instead I am wondering what is the case with Japanese release. The timing seems very weird if they are planning to take off to do other things and maybe some new music. It doesn't make any sense. Why release an album in a country when they are on a break? This mysterious, open future terrifies me, tbh.

I'm also not overly excited tbh. It feels to me that they are trying to reassure their fans that they won't just disappear off the face of the earth. I don't see why they need to put out a best of album at this point otherwise. They don't have much else they can offer their European fans at the moment, so they are throwing us some candy. Unless of course it does include new songs and other specials like nice new photos and stuff. :grin:

They do not have to choose. Lady Gaga is a worldwide phenomenon. There is no reason why TH can't be too.

I don't think there is any cause for alarm in what we're seeing. Quite the opposite. For the first time I'm seeing strategy and organization instead of amateurish fiascoes like the Reebok non-concert.

For starters, Best of?? not trying to sound like I'm putting down my favorite band, but come on! Isn't it a little early in their career for that? I understand they're trying not to leave fans too unattended, but was there really need to make a best of album? couldn't they have just organized a pretty little show for iTunes download for the new tracks and stuff?

I dunno... I was checking prices and boy, can't they at least make it a little more affordable? I don't think I'm purchasing this, and hopefully they haven't got their hopes up for massive sales, though it would make for a nice Christmas present for some people. I personally can live without it.

Hmm.. I have to think about this (Yes, I do think too much and that's a problem), because I got bit too much information at the same time.

I understand all points and I try to make a bigger picture in my head of this. I wish you are right, Vanessa, and this is organized move and has some sort of planning behind it. This obviously is the big surprise that has been talked about lately.

I think them choosing is much more difficult than it is with Gaga. TH fandom is weird. It's extremely possessive, unstable, obsessed and sensitive. I think we are way more difficult to please than many other fandoms. Because of that (sometimes sick) need to own the boys, they gain rare anger and jealousy from fans which (I don't think) is as usual among global fandoms of Gaga and whoever. I think this passionate attitude is both the blessing and the curse.

And yup, this is definitely a candy and possibly assure to especially Europe.

Time will tell...

I'm buying, of course I am because I'm so weak, but I have no idea what is going on behind this move.

Honestly, I'll be satisfied with a good collection of new pics and a wicked concert in Japan. That's all I'm wishing for right now. Though the albums could turn out to be really nice. I'm sure it's definitely something we're all going to want to see under our Christmas trees, yes? Even if it's not really any new material I think it will be something nice to add to our collections.

And like I said in the other thread, it will give us something to munch on to hold us over until they can get more info out about a new album and possible tour.

It isn't going to be anything spectacular I know that, but it's good to see the band being active and trying to give us something. At least we know their alive and ready for action. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I guess, and like somebody already said, they're doing the 'best of' to get attention. And maybe to get the attention in America? Like, maye they're trying to do the whole "Scream" promo all over again? I mean, it could be. They went to America with a sort of 'best of' album in 2008. That was Screm. And they did get a lot of attention and even won a VMA. So, that's my guess right now.

Also, I think it's good that they're planning stuff IF they're going on a break to work on a new album. Like, they won't vanish like they did when they recorded Humanoid. So that fans won't get bored (:

There's nothing to be nervous here about. Even though I don't love the idea of a Best Of album, I can understand why they're doing it and I'm looking forward to a couple of new songs. Except for apparently overestimating SA's interest in them (sadly, the venues are only half sold out), it looks to me like they're doing a solid job. And if they disappear from public view after February, then we should let them record the new album in peace without getting hysterical and starting (or believing) all kinds of crazy rumors.

I tried to order the double CD from amazon.fr. Even though the page says it's 17.95 euros, it rings up at 15.01 euros. With shipping, it comes out to $35.61. And they say that if you pre-order it, if the price goes down, they'll charge you the lowest amount.

I think their sound has evolved a lot. probably out of personal growth as well as growing as artists. i think "best of" albums try to document that change over time. and I'm interested to see what they pick. ^_^ oh and excited for new tracks as well.

A lot of bands release best of albums without breaking up. Like, for example, The Cure released a greatest hits album in 2001. Their last CD came out in 2008 (and was the second album to come out AFTER the CD they actually said was going to be their last). HIM released a greatest hits album in 2004, and have put out 3 more CDs since then.

Considering that the band poured a lot of money into the Automatic video and the Humanoid City tour, the greatest hits CD is probably just them trying to get some cash up. And, hey, any CD that comes out is something that they're just going to HAVE to do a promo tour for, so this whole thing could mean more shows, which is always a good thing. :D

Best of... doesn't always mean the end. LIke in Finland, one of the most popular bands called Apulanmta has released two, three best of-albums already during their 16 year old career.

Look, bands do Best ofs at the end of their careers, some well after it has ended, and some in the middle. I've a perfect example of a band that did one in the middle and still goes strong: HIM released their best of in 2004 after their fourth album. They just released their 7th album in February.

Do not just jump to the conclusion that TH is going to break up soon, because that is not always the case. People were freaking out over the twins moving to LA, saying that the band was breaking up then, too. I'd like to know why the fandom is all of a sudden so worried that the band is going to split up that they pick out anything they can to be a sign of it?

Anyway, I'd really like to know more about this thing. I wonder if they will re-record any Schrei songs (could you imagine if they mixed pre-puberty Bill with post-puberty Bill?) or if it's going to be something like, "If it wasn't good enough to go on Scream, then it isn't good enough for this cd," kind of thing. Also, could this perhaps be the "next album" Bill mentioned at the EMAs? I somehow just can't put it past them to mislead us like that XD

Sooo, this is a lot to take in at once, but oh well.

I guess, and like somebody already said, they're doing the 'best of' to get attention. And maybe to get the attention in America? Like, maye they're trying to do the whole "Scream" promo all over again? I mean, it could be. They went to America with a sort of 'best of' album in 2008. That was Screm. And they did get a lot of attention and even won a VMA. So, that's my guess right now.

Also, I think it's good that they're planning stuff IF they're going on a break to work on a new album. Like, they won't vanish like they did when they recorded Humanoid. So that fans won't get bored (:

I agree 100%. I think this is also to maybe get new fans, you will get a sample of all of their sounds if you buy a CD. I have found great bands that way. I am sure that everyone has seen THN has posted that there will be a couple of new songs. That will make me buy even more. I think it will be a preview of what the new CD might sound like.

Rumours were swirling, people were getting jittery, and now we have confirmation direct from Universal Australia.

Tokio Hotel will be releasing an as yet unnamed Best Of album, which will include a collection of songs from their previous albums and will also feature 2 BRAND NEW SONGS! The new cd will also include a brand new photoshoot, which has already been taken! Wahoo! It's likely the version we will get will be the English version, however there will be a total of 3 versions available to fans; 2 German, and 1 English, with one of the German cd packs including a DVD!

The album will be available nationwide on the 13th of December both digitally and on Itunes, as well as IN STORES!

Internet downloading /digital releases are not allowed to do from other countries. I checked this some time ago for other purposes and it is an international agreement that downloading is allowed only from your own country. I don't know how it works on iTunes and places like that, because I don't use iTunes. So it most likely won't be possible to be downloaded from Amazon.de.

However there shouldn't be any kind of problem of ordering the actual copy from there. It doesn't matter where you order it from - not that I know of.

Also the content of the double-cd is a mystery, but I GUESS it's German cd+DVD? I don't know.

I just heard about the Best of album, and I´m not really sure what I think. Many artists release a Best of or Greatest Hits album after while, but in a way I think it should be at the end of the career or something....
Anyway, I´m kind of looking forward to this. It wil be fun to see what songs will be on the album. And I kind of see it as giving us a Best of to give us something while they work on new songs, and maybe, hopefuly we can get a new album next year.

I wasn't planning on getting this, even for just a couple songs and I'm disappointed that 1 of the 2 new songs is one I already have, Schönes Mädchen Aus Dem All, from the Devilish CD, but this is worth it just for the DVD. The collectionm of songs is actualöly not that bad. I would have wished gor slightly more suirprising and adding one-two unexpectyed songs there, but expected and rather nice collection of songs anyway. Not my list exactly, but many of my favorites there, too. Just that Hilf mir fliegen should have been there.

The DVD was a bit disappointment. Nothing new there, we've seen all of it. I was expecting it to be a music video-DVD, but I still kept my hopes a bit too high. However, it was also expected, I guess.

Result: Buying the deluxe-version. Not because I think this has something AWEsome in it, because I have all of tyhem (aside tyhe new song) anyway, but simply because I want to support the band. It wi8ll give me a good night sleep and peace of mind when I do, so I think it's enough of reason for me. Other optiomn is that I can go to a bar and drink couple of beers - I think this is better investment anyway. :smile:

Which is why I was happy with Evanescence when they made Anywhere But Home and it had the four Fallen videoclips. :mrgreen: Sure YT has good versions, but I prefer crystal clear resolution and crisp sound and full screen goodness. :grin:

3. Support for the band. Oh, what the heck, I'll get it! Ya know?

I also really really like the album cover. I had a feeling it wasnt going to be a picture of them cuz they have never done that. So im happy with the cover. Hopefully it dosnt change to much.

Well that ruins any hopes I had for buying this. I can't afford to spend that kind of money right now. I'd rather buy myself the Zimmer 483 DVD for Christmas, since I don't have it yet.

Anyway, my financial woes aside, I'm still excited about this Best Of album. I like the tracklisting; it seems like a good selection of songs. However, I agree with Amdee. I wish they had included Hilf Mir Fliegen!
I'm looking forward to hearing the new songs though. Hopefully iTunes will have them at some point. And of course I'm really excited about the new photoshoot! :cffgrin:

The problem with imports are that they are not assumingly counted into sales numbers of the country mentioned. In order to get your CD counted in to selling numbers, you have to order the USA release, not import. Imports go to the selling numbers of the country they are ordered from. That's how I understood it when there was a convo of Humanoid or something.

I agree that Cherrytree should have pulled they finger out of their anus much earlier and start to think of it. Dear lord, if they really don't know at this point at what do they want to release. :roll:

This is obviously all Bill's fault. I don't know if it's because he doesn't like America or if he's scared that he'll fail here or something else, but I think if he wanted a decent release in America, it would be happening.
