Definitely voting!

This is Japanese VMA/EMA! It will be great promotion for the band in Japan if they win. Definitely worth of hard core voting.

There is a date 25th of June mentioned, so I assume the award show is then?

EDIT: I understand how people are upset with MTV not playing music videos anymore. I used to be upset until I realized how things are. MTV used to play music videos all the time because TV was the only way people could watch music videos. Nowadays, we have Internet. Instead of having to wait for MTV to premiere a video, we can get to it quicker through the Internet. Instead of missing it and having to wait for it to air again, we can just look it up on the Internet. The Internet(mainly YouTube) has replaced MTV when it comes to music videos.

I didn't stop watching MTV because of the internet, I stopped watching MTV because they stopped playing music. I can't leave the TV on MTV and listen to the music and stop what I'm doing to watch my favorite videos anymore. MTV stopped doing it, so I took my viewership to channels that will actually play music, like Fuse and VH1. The internet has nothing to do with that aspect. and the other channels have had an increase in viewers simply for this reason.

I got one error message when I first triued to vote, but when I tried again, it worked fine.

Also the number of votes seems to change a lot? I think their program is little glitchy. I hope they'll fix the possible problems soon.

I'm starting my voting ritual. With EMA I did 500 per day. I try to do at least 100 for now - daily... if it allows me to. This is a big thing, don't spare your votingfinger!

I'll keep voting anyway.

It's true. It was systematic to vote like that and somehow easier mentally. Now I'm stuck with the same feeling I had with Comets last year: "One more vote... maybe one more.." It's endless like that.

I asked from TokioHotelJapan in Twitter if they knew if it was unlimited, but so far i haven't got any response to my question.

well i managed to vote only once :/
when i first tried, a pop up appeared saying the website said: (blank)

what does that mean? :exclamation:

Amdee

I could only vote once now and then it said my vote has been counted etc.

I don't know what is the pattern with the site, because yesterday evening I managed to vote that probably 100 times or so. Now people complain they can't vote at all or only once. If this is one vote per day or even less, then we are screwed. We've seen how lazy people are these days :???:

I wonder if MTV Japan would answer if we'd ask? I tweeted them (only way I could find to communicate with MTV Japan), but it's midn ight there, so we'll just have to wait... If you find any email address or anything, pleasde post it here!

VanessaM
May 3rd, 2011, 09:49 AM
^Agreed about the EMA thing.

What's weird/scary(?) is that there doesn't seem to be much Twittering about this. I can understand that people are a little tired of voting, but not even to mention it? CT just tweeted about it; we'll see if TH does. If they don't, it'll lead me to believe that they don't care about it and that it's highly unlikely that they'll be there. But they sometimes wait a few days to tweet, so I'm not going to draw any conclusions yet.

There has been some tweeting about this, but not much. Though same has been with other voting - only closer to the ending period, people wake up to this. What I do wish is that Japanese themselves would promote this, but they haven't even tweeted in couple of days. It is hard, when we don'yt know much and translations are shaky. We could use some support from Japanese fans. The thing is that EMA & VMA are much more promoted, because they are "close". Same was with Latin Ametican awards. Twitter was quiet, because there was some sort of barrier between continernts (especially language).

But... I see peiople voting, but hopefully this will be more widely promoted. It is mentioned every now and then, but could be more. However "big" tweeters like BillKaulitzFans, tokiohotelusa, THWonderland etc. do tweet about this.

Six weeks is a long time to vote... It is very common that it takes time for people to warm up. Same was with EMA. For weeks it was only couple of people repeating the voting promo until it really got heated up.

BTW, I don't know if this is mentioned, but it will be aired live all around Asia at 6 pm on June 25th and Lady Gaga has been cionfirmed to perform. Other confirmed nmames seem to be Japanese/Asian.

Well, all we can do is to vote - as much as we can. Time will tell how far it carries us. TH is not yet so big in Japan, so they could dominate only with Japanese votes, but we can always hope that the spirit of supporting this band carries far. Let's try to stay positive!

Normally I wouldn't mind, but I'm wondering if it's really such a good idea that specific countries let international fans vote.

These things don't give any indication of how big the fanbase actually is within the country.

That's true, but it is also the same situation to everyone. These award things don't really measure the popularity in a certain country, but more like the devotion of the fandom in general. But then again... is the number of individual fans any better indicator of what's good and what's not? These are not so much about goodness anyway (generally speaking).

jaq_sprat
May 7th, 2011, 10:37 PM
I understand that it's the same for everyone, but I think they should change the rules.
Those Japanese bands are probably more popular than TH in Japan and if TH win it will most likely be because of international fans, even though the majority of Japanese voters voted something different.

That's true of every time TH wins an award -- it's because even if other bands are more popular, TH's fans all over the world are more devoted.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter what the fans in any particular country would have voted for. In the end, these MTV awards are about making money for MTV. But the reason why it's good for TH to win them is because it gets them free publicity. After they won the EMA and the OMA there were tons of nice articles about them all over the world.

Hey, Philadelphia is good!

I haven't voted for two dayus more than maybe few times a day. I've been having so hard time that I just... haven't felt like it. That's my confession. I try to make it better today and watchg a movie while voting.

I wonder if we'll get any confirmation whether or not TH will be there...

And the website allows me to vote once only D: so hopefully the two votes that I could have contributed wouldn't matter much :P

I'm sorry, but it is hard for me to understand that people don't care about this, because for me this is one of the most important (or the most important?) voting of the year! It's Japan's VMA, for god's sake. I know, I spent couple of days without voting because of things in real life, but I try to make it up. It's just something I don't get why people aren't interested in this, because I think this is 1.000 times more important to TH as a business opportunity than any March madness or some other MTV polls. The band is trying to hit Japan's markets, so this would be like VMA was for them in America.

I suggest people to care more.

Is this the support TH fans brag about everywhere? :???:

You're right, this is actually the most important award yet this year. Unfortunately, I think people are tired of voting.

Since I was having trouble voting in the morning I stopped trying, so now I vote in the afternoons and evenings.

It is hard to motivate yourself when band does... nothing.. but we should at least try, because this has the potential to be HUGE. I wish we could just bring this one home, because we need this and the most of all, the boys need this.

Why we celebrate of them getting to Japan/Tokyo, if we are not fighting to support them all the way on conquerinbg Japan?

Oh well, I do muy part and can't do more than that. It will just break my heart if we'd lose this one.

Not to be sour or anything but it's not like they hit the American markets in '08 when we won them the VMA, the award and all the opportunities that came with it just went to waste.

It's not really the point that they blew the chance. I think the key point is that VMA offered them a whole new chance in a first place and gave those opportunities they did or didn't blew. I think VMAJ can give the same opportunities for them in Japan. It's not in our hands what they do with them, but I think we should at least try to give them these opportunities. I don't think anyone can quarantee that victory would definitely give them anything, but at least it - without a doubt - opens more doors. In whole different way than some random poll of Bill's hairstyle or whatever unimportant things we've been voting on lately.

Mistakes were made in the Humanoid era and they've clearly learned from them. They may not be functioning as a smooth German machine yet, but (hopefully) they'll get there eventually.

DSOTS without a doubt, but I would pee myself if they'd play Hurricanes and Suns. I would probably experience a huge TH- - death - and I wouldn't even mind, because it would be a happy death!

There are some problems on voting, but here are few tips:

* If it doesn't let you vote, come back little later and try again.

* Close your browser after every vote and re-open it. Lot of work, but works for me to let me vote as many times as I want.

*Add the site to your favorites/bookmarks and up on a list, so it's easily available anytime you are on your computer.

* Watch movies, tv-programs etc. while voting. Adjust the voting screen small to a corner and while watching, click and refresh countiniously. 1,5hrs voting goes easily without even noticing.

* Try to create a habit to give few votes everytime you go on computer.

* Use "free time" wisely. Vote while talking in a phone with your friend, cooking, waiting on a bus stop etc.

* Spread the link/voting in social media (FB, Twitter, blogs)

* Use the shortcut F5 to refresh the page. It comes to routine when you can click F5 with other hand and just click mouse with the other without even looking anymore.

...more soon...

I discovered that I could vote loads of times using this method, using SAFARI! I hate myself for not using that first :vmad:

I told a few friends about this in hopes they would help vote, but only two are kinda willing to help. Most of them are excited about LINKIN PARK instead even though they don't even listen to them. They only act as if they love them coz they are more famous, and they want to be seen as cool by 'listening' to rock music (they actually listen to Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Glee, Bieber etc. ). -.- People like them really annoy me. I usually keep my mouth shut on this topic but today is just one of those days...

Nobody forces people of other countries to listen to music from the United States, or eat food from McDonalds, or buy books from U.S. authors and so on. If they like it, why should they be denied the right to enjoy it? Should we not be open to outside interests?

Why should people in the United States be expected to appreciate music and art from other cultures but when other countries appreciate things from the United States it must be because we are awful, evil people forcing it on them? It's just hypocritical bulls**t.

By the way, you are on a Japanese site voting for a German band

Honestly, what chances do you think we have on winning? Linkin Park is a huge band, and I think the boys were beaten by them once..

I don't think Linkin Park will be the biggest problem. I don't remember that we've ever been beaten by them (I can be wrong, though), but we've beaten them before. They are huge, but I don't think they have that kind of voting culture as we do.

However I'm not too confident, because I have no idea of a) how Japanese usually vote and b) how big and how devoted fandoms the Asian bands there have. This is really just pure guessing at this point, because Japan is so diffrent from any other place that they can do anything and I wouldn't be surprised.

I have no idea what are our changes. I don't even dare to guess.

MTV Japan announces on their voting site that they've now reached the maximum charity amouth of 100.000 US dollars. Voting is open until the June 15.

With the quick calculation it means that more than 810.000 votes are given all together, if one vote earned 10 yens to charity.

I hope you've voted a lot, too? This is not a game for one or two votes!

P.s. A tip: Google Chrome seems to work best in voting.

Can someone clarify this for me?

Google translation says that MTV Japan promised to donate 10 million USD, but now people on Twitter are talking about 100.000 USD. Can anyone tell which one is correct, because it affect significantly to the given/needed votes.

10 million donation = 81 million votes. 100.000 donated = 810 000 votes given. It's a huge differrence and meaningful for us and our chances.

I'm very confused.

Until this becomes clear, take my previous post of 81 million given votes as a speculation, not the truth necessarily.

:???:

And what comes to my votes, I'll go for this and I let you go for Billboard

Apparently. Wow, Yahoo got it right and Google got it wrong. I can't believe it. But I see why they got it wrong.

Google

The donation from Viacom's vote is calculated based on 10 US million U.S. dollars (as of April 28, 2011, approximately 800 million yen.

Yahoo

Furthermore, as for fund-raising from the via COM corporation which calculates on the basis of poll 100,000 US dollar (as of 2011 April 28th, approximately 8,000,000 Yen.

I still am, because I'm always super nervous, but hopefully oir efforts are worth of something!

Btw, in that English blog there is something else confusing. What does this mean?

MTV Japan and Viacom also announced that a ¥10 donation would be made to the Japanese Red Cross for each vote cast within Japan in all fifteen VMAJ award categories.

“The automatic donation to the Japanese Red Cross is a simple way to raise funds and give Japanese music fans a new way to help,” said Indra Suharjono, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Viacom International Media Networks North & Southeast Asia. “Our goal with MTV VIDEO MUSIC AID JAPAN is to create an unforgettable night of music that pays tribute to the resilience of the Japanese people, and inspires audiences all over the world to contribute to the recovery effort.”

Are our votes counted? Do our votes help to raise money for Japanese Red Cross? Are there a mention of only Japanese being able to vote or is the voting open to all? It does seem to count our votes, but..

Just asking...

If it doesn't let you vote, close and re-open the browser or try to change between Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Chrome works best for me.

We have few more weeks to work on this one.

Wouldn't it be nice to give the boys something to come home with in June? Wouldn't it be sad if they'd travel to Japan for nothing? Imagine all those nice accepting speeches, new pictures & press photos it will give us if they win! Worth of little work, right? ;)

I'm sorry to say that I haven't been voting for this as often I should. My heart simply hasn't been in it lately - not because I love the band any less, but rather because my life has too traumatic for me to focus on anything else recently. :(

However, I have been voting, and I will keep voting as often as I can. I really hope our boys win this. They deserve it. :)

All that said... I can't wait to see them perform again! This is exciting! http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/hapydancsmil.gif (http://www.millan.net)

The award show starts at 6pm Japan time on Saturday June 25th

(10am CET / 4am EST)

"MTV VIDEO MUSIC AID JAPAN will be broadcast live from Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture to more than 30 million households on MTV Japan, MTV Korea, MTV SEA and MTV China on Saturday June 25 at 1800 Tokyo & Seoul/1700 Singapore & Beijing. A special one-hour version of MTV VIDEO MUSIC AID JAPAN will air on MTV channels worldwide to over 550 million homes as an instalment of MTV’s weekly live music series, MTV WORLD STAGE. "

Source: http://www.mtvjapan.com/vmaj/en/2011-06-01/4667

That means that people outside Asia are probably not able to watch it live (unless someone finds a way to watch MTV on web), but hopefully someone uploads it instantly on YT/somewhere. Don't forget to follow Twitter & other social media for it!

I think it's all on social media for us outside Asia. I'm sure all videos will be out as soon as possible, but I'm afraid that it will be as difficult with it as it was on their earlier trip. Like Vanessa said.

Amnd this "rumor" was only based on Bill saying in Moscow interview that they don't have anything scheduled/booked right now... Which can easily be put on Bill's babbling whatever comes to his mouth without thinking.

I agree. It's probably just few days. They tend to keep business out of pleasure, so to say. Whether they come back (or have already been?) outside their public appearancies, thyat we will probably never know, but that's what they most likely do. This is just business.

I've always found that a little odd. Yeah, they're busy this year working on the new album but as travelling to Moscow from LA takes so long, I would've stayed a little longer than they did there. They arrived Thurday afternoon, performed and had interviews on Friday and left Saturday. If they've gone so far, why not stay and hang out for a couple of days?

I figure because the label's not paying them to vacation and it's not worth it for them to start working it out that they'll pay for extra nights in the hotel and car/driver/bodyguard/whatever.

This sounds about right. It is most of all a business trip and just like you travel for work, company (in this case company called Tokio Hotel or whoever is responsible for the expences) pays, but if you want to spend extra time or do something nice, it would be out yur pocket and I assume they are not willing to do that easily.

So...wait. This Audi thing is on the 24th and the VMAJ is on the 25th, yes? So could we expect them to arrive on the 23rd? Possibly the 22nd Eastern time? Maybe even earlier depending on their plans? Eeeeep!

Thank you. I try my best to be online as much as possible, but it is very possible that I can't be much. No pics & goodness can evcer replace the rush of real-time following, though. Almost feels like this is not even happening and Moscow was the last time I saw them in a very, very long time.

Awww.

I always love the rush of real-time following like you said, but last time, having to waste 5 hours of my day stuck listening to nonstop Russian and being disappointed numerous times throughout the show sorta made me realize sometimes it's just best to wait and skip all that stress. ...I dunno. I'm sure a lot of this is going to happen in the middle of the night my time and I don't know if I want to become a vampire just for this. *shrugs* We'll see.

I need that rush. It takes away so much if just check pics and updates later. It's not... real. When it's real-time it's almost like being there, seeing them, feeling the presence. It's closest what we can get to the band anymore. Missing it - even if it makes me physically and mentally exhausted (like Russia) - will take away the experience of be "there". That makes me sad.

But yay for nmew pics & videos! I hope Japanese are active on that!

I guess your right.
I want to be here for the performances and all that jazz, but I don't mind waking up to new pics. Like airport/hotel/whatever pics. I still get super excited, even when I am half asleep. :P

Oh, yeah... I forgot about that. :eyeroll:
I hope so too!

Amdee, since you may not be here, who should I be following on Twitter for updates? (I know that has been asked a millions times already, sorry)

I've just recently started getting more active on Twitter and I want to help with updates this time.

Maybe this should be its own thread?

7:30 p.m. Tokyo time = 5:30 a.m. EST

This also kills me because I can't possibly go to it. I sometimes feel like the universe is conspiring to keep me away from TH.

But acoustic! It's going to be freaking sweet! If there's a livestream, I'm totally going to be up at 5:30 a.m.!!!!!!!!

Amdee, since you may not be here, who should I be following on Twitter for updates? (I know that has been asked a millions times already, sorry)

I've just recently started getting more active on Twitter and I want to help with updates this time.

I'd recommend accounts like these (as an example)

http://twitter.com/#!/THNews_Ru (In Russia, but they seem to be active)
http://twitter.com/#!/THO_Network
http://twitter.com/#!/TokioHotelJPST (maybe?)
http://twitter.com/#!/UNIVERSAL_INTER (Japan's Universal)
http://twitter.com/#!/ReseTH_News
http://twitter.com/#!/THMalaysiaST (possibly? It's on the same timezone, so..)
http://twitter.com/#!/tokiohotelJAPAN
http://twitter.com/#!/THWonderland
...and my highest recommendation to my favorite site...
http://twitter.com/#!/TokioHotel_Info

If you follow these I'm sure you are very well updated.

For my luck, most of these things happen between very early in the morning and afternoon, so my chances are that I can be here bit more. I just need to sleep bit less. I can't be updating my, though,m because I'm with the very poor internet connect6ion, so it takes ages for me to upload anything.

Think about it; VMAJ performance & acoustic set? How sweet it that? Should we give our best for them, too?

I also like the camaraderie of discussing the live happenings with my fellow fans.

I got up early and tried all morning to do a few votes, but it never did let me. I could vote for other categories, once each, but not for TH.

A whole week and a half. *sigh* I'll keep myself busy with that other voting thing. I still have several movies lined up and I need something to do while I watch.

*biting nails* (because Bill is never going to see my nails anyway )

I think I may use one of my twitter accounts to follow just the accounts I know update during these things. This way I know whatever is coming through is relevant. My other two accounts have a lot of RP (I've become such a voyeur!) and while things are going on I want to be able to actually see the info and not get distracted by... well, other things *clears throat*

Ok, so anyway... I'll be dedicating myself to updating and hope I can even come close to the awesome updating done by Amdee and others here. So relax and enjoy yourself Amdee, and join in whenever you can. Tom goodies will await you

The audience of 150 people is on the edge of being too much to acoustic, of course, but if someone gave me a chance, I would gladly accept that.

How about the band for once announce 2 months or more beforehand a real concert somewhere? Would save my life... But nooooo. :???:

I'm just jealous. Don't worry about me.

Seattle is currently 15 hours behind Singapore, so it will be 10:30 PDT, not PST, for me. I think you're an hour off because we're in Daylight Savings Time now (which always confuses me) and Singapore and Tokyo aren't. I'm using this. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
Also, this is quite cool. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html

But regardless of an hour here or there, I'm still going to be up all night.
