About U.S., Autumn tour and new DVD
Tokio Hotel:"It was in France it all began"
Spurred on by the ever increasing success and the latest international developments including the U.S., so did Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav temporary France, but is now back stronger than ever. They will play concerts from Paris to Provence between 10 and 29 October.
You are back in France.
All: And it's nice to be here.
How have you spent the summer?
Bill: We spent a little more than three weeks in the U.S. during July. It was primarily for a vacation, but we worked a little.
Tom: When we came back, we resumed to promote our albums in Europe, mostly in Italy and Spain.
Gustav: The rest of the summer we spent at home with our families. We hadn't been home for so long! We really needed a break from everything so we could relax and take it easy. There have been non-stop work since the beginning of the year.
What did you do in the U.S.?
Bill: First of all, we visited New York because I have always dreamed of going there! But it was a real shock. America has nothing in common with Europe, everything is so different, so big and so reverence bidder. Because of TV, I had developed some ideas about the United States. But nothing of what I had imagined myself was broadly in line with the country that we came to. For me this trip was a real revelation.
Tom: Then we discovered the West Coast and Los Angeles. Here, we met the team that will work for us - or I should say for Tokio Hotel - to take us to America.
So it's official now, you will cross the Atlantic?
Gustav: Negotiations with those who decide on the record InterScope went very well. Mechanism is loaded and ready. (laughter)
You met other artists in LA?
All: Oh yes.
Georg: Tom has plenty to say about this .. (laughter)
Which stars did you meet Tom?
Tom: I met Nicole from The Pussycat Dolls on Interscopes office. She fell in love at first glance at me - it was the great love. (laughter) A few hours later our love culminated in a passionate night together!
Bill: Tom exaggerates. We spent a memorable evening in LA with Nicole Scherzinger, on her birthday. Nicole is a truly wonderful girl. When she heard that we were in LA, she sent us an invitation to spend a night with her.
George: And when Tom devoured Nicole with his eyes, I spent time sympathizing with the other girls in the Pussycat Dolls - it was a real pleasure!
In general, what do you think about the Americans?
Georg: For the most part, it was not bad - they were very welcoming.
Tom: Should I be perfectly honest, we prefer the French girls, they are nicer, trendier and sexier then the American ones.
When you come back to France in October it will be memorable.
Bill: It's true, the tour in France is a major event in Tokio Hotels career, a great achievement. In many ways, it was in France our international career began. Exactly one year ago, we played in a small room in Paris for 700 people. Now in October, more than 80 000 fans to see us. It is inconceivable.
What surprises do you have planned for the French audience?
Tom: We've come up with the most amazing things so that the restart of Zimmer 483 tour will be spectacular. For that we should not do the fans disappointed that has already seen us live, we have enriched the show, made it more magnificent. We hope that the details we add to the show have the desired effect. But we know this is not until we are on the stage.
There are rumors whispering of a spectacular surprise ...
Bill: They're right. I have been working on this surprise for many days. This is a special gift that is only for the French fans, a special song I know in your language.
Are you sometimes afraid you'll disappoint your fans?
Bill: Without our fans we would be nothing, it is thanks to them we exist. We always have this in our thoughts, it is something that weighs heavily, a great responsibility. We must always show our fans that we are worthy of their attention and we must be professional and perfectionists. I have sworn to be this and sometimes it scares me because I feel that we may not always be on top and then we make our fans disappointed. From now on we will travel more and we will not be available in the same way.
Tom: The international projects for Tokio Hotel will not allow us to be in France as much as we wanted. But we hope that the fans will understand the situation. In life you can not always fix everything yourself, especially when it comes to ones job.
There are rumors that you've become divas.
Georg: People always talk crap and complain about others and they never stop. Personally, I don't give these rumors any attention.
Bill: We work very much and we always treat everyone with respect. Sure, I recognize that we can not always be in good humor. But that does not mean that we become divas.
Tom: We ask that we are going to be left a moment of peace before we go out on stage, we ask for milk and candy in our dressing room, that is all we ask. This is our only requirement as "stars".
What are your projects in the coming months?
Gustav: The tour ends in November then we will make promotion in Germany and a little bit everywhere in Europe. Then in early 2008, we will target the United Kingdom, USA and Japan. In other words, our schedule is full.
Will there be a third album soon?
Bill: We constantly write new songs. This summer I have and Tom was extra productive. But even if we burn of impatience to show the audience our new songs, it's simply too early to even think about a new album. We will be so busy in the coming months that we will not have any time to provide the finishing touches on songs in the studio.
Tom: We don't have a new album, but a new DVD called 'Zimmer 483 Live - On European Tour' and it will hopefully reassure fans. It is scheduled to be released in France on November 5.
What will it be for something extra on this live DVD?
Bill: We have spent much time in the studio with our team, thinking about the material for this DVD. You may see the band's concert of course, but also backstage. In recent months, we actually had a film crew that followed us full time. So we have gone through hours of filmed material to find the best.
Tom: I have always believed that the bonus material on music-DVDs is really boring. I wish that the material should be fun and dynamic. Fans can follow us during a normal day
