HEY.
I was arguing with someone about how to say "have" in German.
I think its "habe"
but she thinks it's
"Habbe"
Could you tell me which it is, please?

January 15th, 2009, 06:15 AM
to have = haben
I have = ich habe
habbe doesn´t exist :P So you´re right.

It depends.
Because 'four eight three' (which is what Bill says in 'Reden') would be said as 'vier acht drei' but 'four hundred three' is said as 'vier hundert drei und achtzig' (written as: 'vierhundertdreiundachtzig').

okay ...:) thanks . but what about dir and mir, how is it different from dich and mich? BTW . can you recommend me a dictionary ? a good one
neptunedrgn
November 2nd, 2009, 01:28 PM
Normally "dir" means "to you" or "for you" (dative), while "dich" means just "you" (accusative).
"mir" means "to me", "for me", while "mich" is "me"
What does that mean? Dative things receive the action indirectly, accusative directly.
Ex.
You would use "dich" as a direct object, Ich liebe dich, I love you.
The clerk remembered me. ("mich")
You would use "dir" as an indirect object, Wie geht es dir, how goes it to/with you?
The clerk gave me a discount. ("mir")

ex. eat , ate, will eat (English)
kain,kumain,kakain (Tagalog)

lol yeah spanish is my first language and I really suck. Once I was telling my mom I need a napkin and I blanked on 'napkin' so i tried to describe it. Didn't really help. I really only took spanish in high school to brush up on it and actually LEARN to write and where to put the accents and all that. In school I learned english and I picked it up fast. Since spanish was my first lang they always gave me those tests to see how well you know english and everytime I went above and beyond on those.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but,
for future you add werden (will) and the verb goes at the end.
for past you add either haben (have) or sein (be) and the verb goes at the end and you add a 'ge' at the beginning.
for present just conjugate the verb.
Future: Ich werde etwas essen.
Past: Ich habe etwas gegessen.
Present: Ich esse etwas.

haha yea I've done that before. I speak mostly english so sometimes when I speak spanish I forget how to say some stuff.
Its good that you took spanish because I can speak it well but I have a hard time spelling some words and I have no idea where the accents go. The only one I'm good with is ñ .

And... I can translate anything from English into Gangsta-English. I took a class on it for three years, and I studied at home for even longer. So, anything at all can become Gangsta-English; don't hesitate to ask!
