I'm not one hundred percent sure if this topic has been discussed yet, but I'm willing to take the chance. This topic is pretty much your translation of Tokio Hotel's lyrics, whether they be from their American album or German albums. What do the lyrics say to you?

For example, I haven't really thought about what On the Edge meant until I listened to it on the album. I mean, I heard it before and whatnot, but it didn't really speak to me until I actually listened to it. Most of Tokio Hotel's songs talk about rebellion or never giving up hope or losing hope. But On the Edge ... though it's a pretty dark song, it didn't speak about the vocalist ... it spoke about a girl. A girl who was forced to do things against her will (I believe they talk about rape, for the lyrics go, "Someone's hand is touching her; she has no will.") And eventually ... the stress gets to her and she loses herself. ("The sky is casting over, her last wish stays unsaid.")

I don't know. That's what I've always thought about the song.

So what about you guys? Any songs you want to translate in your own words? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Bill also said it was a great song to get the crowd to participate. But I agree with what you said. It's kind of a rebellion song, if you ask me. When there are people holding you down, you have to break free. When they're saying things you don't like, sometimes you'll have to scream in order for them to hear and understand you.

The song is Ich bin nich' ich. It's by far my favorite of theirs. And it's basically saying that he isn't himself if that special someone isn't with him.

maybe Nach Dir Kommt Nichts. Its kind of a favorite especially the line,

basically what hes saying is that this girl is and was and will never again be everything to him.
I just love that message.

If u ever translate it, it seems like Tom is mad at his brother. "...tatoo. Mommy endorsed that to. And in return I wear Papi's longjohns." It's like he's saying he's jealous that Bill is getting all the attention and new stuff and Tom is getting nothing. I don't know!

I don't know, it seems like Bill feels trapped and alone, but he doesn't know why. He can't remember who he is or why he's there, he can't tell you where he is. And he's homesick (there's a line in the song that translates to 'I'm homesick'). He's not with his family and he feels lonley, and he would do anything and give up everything to just go back. He wants to be 'normal' again but in a way, he doesn't.

So the German translation gave me a whole new perspective of the song. Basically it's saying that: We loved each other to death and now we can't be together anymore even after the "mights" (as Bill puts it) have released us. It's killing me inside. Our dreams lie in the debris and the world must be alone forever.


So yeah to me it's a really sad breakup song. And it applys to certain situations in my life.

So my favorite song right now is Don't Jump.
In either the english or the german versions.

Mainly because at the concert, right before they started playing this song, Bill stared right into my eyes and said, "Remember, no matter how hard it is or how much it hurts, believe in you, believe in yesterday, believe in life, and whatever happens, don't jump."

I love the message this song carries, and when Bill said that as he was looking at me, it made me feel like he could look inside of me and see that I had been "suicidal" before, even though I'm better now. This song touches me in a way because of that. It felt as if Bill was telling me that everything would be okay, even if things do get bad.

This song is about a child/children (maybe Bill and Tom)whose parents are getting a divorce.

I love this song, because I was in the same situation when I was a kid and what he is singing there is probably something almost every kid feels whose parents are breaking up.

I know almost no one has posted here in awhile, however I just saw it and I must add in that I love all the live performances I have seen on youtube of In The Nacht. Not just the actuall meaning of the song and how beautifully put together it is but I mainly love the fact that he still sings it with as much passion to his brother as when he wrote it. He always looks over, his eyes light up, and he tends to sing more to Tom than the crowd.

As per Brake Away, I loved this song as soon as I heard it, its such a high energy song that can be interpreted differently by everyone but has basically a rebellious feel to it.

And I also love Heilig/Sacred
I basically just heard it in english first but then when I heard it in German, and knowing what it meant, I just liked the German version better and it carries more feeling.

Forgotten Children reminds me of how people just leave their kids out to live on their own, which makes me sad. Live Every Second pretty much speaks for itself. heh.

Wir sterben niemal aus! I love it! When I first heard it, I fell in love with the actual music, which is important to me. Then After I heard it a bunch of times, I found a translation, and I'll admit I was afraid that I would hate what the lyrics were about and that would spoil the song. I can't believe I had so little faith in Bill's lyrics. I saw the words and i fell in love more. It's about loving the music and kind of reafferming that they're doing this because they love music and it's what they want in life, not just because they're famous and rich off of it.
I love in die nacht too. I'm going to play that song for my older brother before he leaves for college. It'll be my little present for him.

Oh people a have read almost all of your posts... and they are very right ^_^ um.. i dont know what to say here cus its SOO much! and i have practically all of their songs as my favourite ones! but i have a few songs that relate ALLOT to my life...(almost all of them) but im just going to mention some...

First it is definitely HILF MIR FLIEGEN
the whole lyrics just describes BIG parts of my life... if not ALL.
it just expresses all that i want to do and say in/to this world...
i just want to fly away and get out with all that i have left to give... sometimes i guess Bill wants the same... fly away
but ofcorse there are things holding u back

and another song is AN DEINER SEITE(ICH BIN DA)/ BY YOUR SIDE
that song really really made a turning point in my life when i first heard it...and it is a message that i really needed... especially when u feel alone, and this song makes me have the BIGGEST smile on my face cus i think about TH every single time i hear it... and it makes me feel very secure and safe somehow...as if everything is going to me all right :)

and then their is ofcorse 1000 OCEANS and MONSOON together for the sake of Love... there are other songs of Love they have. but these two have something related somehow... like Doing whatever and going where ever just for the one u Love and for the sake of Love...

_"THE WORLD BEHIND MY WALL",which Bill did a perfect performance in EMA09!!!I think this is Bill's thought:He became famous at such a young age and couldnt live a normal life as any teenager.He grew up without being able to go anywhere he likes or freely do anything he wants.He tries to live normal,do the things normal ppl do but it just doesnt right and it makes him sad.He sees life only through TV and it means nothing to him,it's not his life anyways,it's not the experiences he gains by himself.He composes songs about things that he has never been through.Ppl say it's beautiful,it's good but they(the songs) are just his own hope and imagination.He does believe in his ability but he wonders if he would ever truly know the real world out there?That's why he told to himself, on one beautiful day,when the sun shines so bright,he would be ready to set off,on a journey to see it,to feel it and discover it all."Train in the sky" indicates that it's still a dream,he is just hoping for that day to come.He drowns in his own world.In the end,he repeats over and over his determination,he wants to see the real world behind those walls that imprisoning him.He will be ready for that day when those walls fall and see the light of the world by himself,for the first time.In some aspects,it also portrays me my problems really well...

I've been obsessed with Zoom into Me, to me its a reassurance that (said person, which it would be really cool if it was Billa ;)) will be there always. No matter if you feel like your alone, you have that person to 'zoom into' it also reminds me of the hug you need on a really bad day. Just from your favorite person, and you just sigh with relief. The song really helped me when my Grandma was slowly decreasing in health. Another one that helped me in this situation was Dark Side of the Sun, which meant to me, a new day is coming, a new start, and we'll be on the other side of the sun before you know it. Lastly when I get agravated Noise, Screamin, and Hey you are kind of those realsing the things you want to say or that you feel.

I would have to say that "Black" is my favorite as of right now. I just love the simplicity yet beauty of the song.

In combining the two lines "The last look back is black." and "Where have you gone? You made us feel so strong. You've lost us and no we are, so alone." I feel that these two lines and the song in general could be talking about the many times the band feels that they want to stop and move on. Or, especially with the second line, the fans are being talked about. Ya know, those times when the band could feel that they're losing their fans.

I always understood Ich Bin Nicht Ich to be a song a bit like In Your Shadow. But I can't remember the original translation by heart. So it could be it.
