Hello :)
My name is Katie, I'm new here and I was just wondering how do I get a signature? Where on my profile can I upload a signature? sorry, I'm very new to this. D:

Thanks

It's not an upload thing so much as a BBC code thing. Go to 'User CP' there near the top, and on the side there is 'edit signature'. That's how you put it together. :) Just make sure to take a gander at the rules first to make sure that your sig isn't too big. :D

If you need to know how to post an image, check out the faq here: http://www.tokiohotel.com/us/forum/showthread.php?t=1024

It has step by step illustrated instructions to help you out. :)

Well, almost got it, cause that signature is WAY bigger than 300x500.

You want a sig that can fit within this image:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v383/Gaja/forum/640400.jpg

That includes all text and images. By a quick estimate, you're about 75-90 pixels taller than we allow. :(

Ohh. oops, sorry.
Is that better now?
How do I know how big my signature is?

The best way is to remember that text = 15 pixels. So, every line of text = 15. Right now you have 5 lines (4 text and a space) which would be 75 pixels. Add that to your image height (195) and you have your full height. In this case it would be 270 pixels, which great! :D

You can find out image sizes by either right clicking and selecting 'properties', or opening it in a new window/tab where it'll normally have the size on the top bar. :)

Sorry about that. I'm very new to this.
So my signature is okay now though?

Is this signature too big or did i actually possibly maybe do something right on my own!?! lol

^ too big. The image alone is 17 pixels too tall, and then you have the text as well, which looks like about size 4, which would add another 18px. So, all told, you're about 35 pixels over. REALLY close, but not quite there.

Darn it!! ok how about this one?? it seems way too big but I figured I'd check anyway. And WOW how do you know all that stuff about pixels and such just by looking at it?

I have mad skills of opening it in a new tab. ;) That gives me the dimensions.

This one is 45 px too big by its self, plus another 15 for the text, putting you at 60px too tall. BUT, even if this one was perfectly sized, see the little glittery heart? Yeah, that's animated, which means it would be against the rules anyway.

alright, I'm having issues (nothing really new there for me).

I can't get my siggy big enough! when I go into properties (going to picture files on my computer) it says that it is... 504 x 255 pixles. yet it's so tiny on here. On here it says that it is 198 x 100. Any ideas what the problem may be?
These things usually work for me, so idk what is going on.

If you're uploading it to the forum, that's your problem. The forum resizes things down to teeny tiny. *looks* Yep, that's your problem. You need to host your own images if you want them proper sized.

got ya!
guessing it's too big now, right?
please tell me it's alright...

4 pixels too wide, but it's not too tall, even with the text. :)

do I have to change it for just 4 pixels? :( haha

THDGaja
March 15th, 2010, 05:56 PM
Yeps. We let 4 px slide, next it's 10, then 20, and soon we're back to sigs that stretch the forum wildly. :(

alright...

...now? haha I feel like a broken record.

1: find photos of Tom you like. I would suggest the Tom photos thread here on the forum, it's got lots of em.

2: open your art program.

3: ?

4: Awesome sig!

Or you could collect photos you like and hit up the fan art section and ask if someone could turn those photos into a nice sig for ya. Just remember to follow the forum's signature rules. :D

You click on Quick Links or User CP and then on Edit Signature.
Then you delete it and either press on Save signature or you add a new one and press Save signature.

If you have tried that and it did not work you might have had a sig that was too big (height 300 and width 500 is max incl words) or you posted the wrong link.

I tried adding a signature but on my posts it's squished down to half the acutal size. . what's going on with that?

THDGaja

If you're uploading it on the forum, it does that. You want to find a host of your own (photobucket, tinypic, etc). Just make sure that your image isn't outside forum restrictions once you get it working, though. ;)
