SORRY MY DARLINS!! I HAVE MUCHO WRITERS BLOCK WHEN IT COMES TO THE MILLIE STORY!!! SO I HOPE THIS HOLDS YOU OVER UNTIL I WORK SOME MORE ON MILLIE!!
He sat there quietly, watching the rain beat against the window pane in front of him. The sound of her voice saying, “Goodbye” a million times over playing in his mind, he looks down at the faded white circle around his finger, where the ring, and promise of her love and devotion had sat for the last three years. Leaning back in his chair he closes his eyes tightly, fighting back the tears, and he hears the “Goodbye’s” getting louder. Images of her are filling his mind, her curly auburn hair and those gorgeous baby blue eyes, the smile that he loved so much. He opens his eyes letting the tears flow down his cheeks, running his fingers through his long black hair. Taking in a deep breath he leans forward resting his elbows on his knees, staring down at the floor for a moment before he gets up and makes his way to the bathroom.
Standing at the sink in the bathroom he gazes into the mirror and sees his tear streaked face, he combs back his long hair from his face and tucks it behind his ears before splashing his face with cool water. Leaning over against the sink he lets the water drip from his face.
“God Bill, get a hold of yourself.” He mutters quietly while reaching for a towel to dry his face. He pats his face dry and leaves the bathroom, making his way for the stereo in the living room, he puts on some music and paces about the living room floor, letting his mind go crazy with thoughts of her.
Taken from his thoughts by loud knocking at his front door, when he opens it he sees his brother, his face hidden beneath the shadow of his cap he wore. Standing there in an oversized sweatshirt, the ends of his dreadlocks dripping with water, he looks at Bill and smiles.
“Well are you going to let me in or not? You know it is raining out here.” Tom says to him trying to crack a smile from his little brother.
Bill waves him in, and shuts the door behind them, watching Tom shed the drenched sweatshirt, and lay it on the back of the chair.
“What’s going on Tom?” Bill asks him standing there with his arms crossed in front of him.
“What do you mean, what is going on? I should be asking you that, I knew something was wrong so I thought I would come by and see you, I know you’re upset Billa.” Tom replies to him and he sits down on the sofa.
“I’m not upset Tom, I am perfectly fine!” He retorts and turns around to head for the kitchen. Tom gets up from the couch and follows after Bill.
“Don’t lie to me Bill, I know when something is wrong with you, and I can tell you were crying so don’t give me a load of crap Okay, just talk to me, that’s why I’m here.”
“Do you want some coffee?” Bill asks as he starts a fresh pot, just enough to change the subject that he did not feel like diving into. Tom sighs and sits on one of the stools at the bar.
“Yea sure, that’s fine Bill.” He mutters.
“What? Now what’s wrong with you?” Bill asks sternly.
“Nothing Bill, forget it. So, what are you doing tonight anything fun?” Tom asks changing the subject, due to the obvious fact that Bill was not ready to talk about what was bothering him.
“I guess if you call, sitting here at home watching the rain fall, something fun, then sure of course!” He says flashing Tom his fake smile.
“Very funny Bill, really, you should go out with us or something, we need to get you out of the house” Tom says seriously as he looks over at his brother who is fidgeting with everything in sight to avoid eye contact with his brother.
“Go out with you and Bree? Why? So I can stare at every happy couple who happens to walk by me and be reminded of what I used to have? No thank you Tom!”
“Bill you need to get your mind off of Evie, being cooped up in this house is not helping anything, I know you miss her man, but you can’t keep on like this Bill, you just can’t.”
“Why do I need to get my mind off of Evangeline? I don’t need to do anything of the sort Tom, I love her, and nothing is going to change that” Bill says hopping up on the counter looking over at Tom.
“Bill I didn’t say you didn’t love her.” He replies to Bill.
“Then why should I get my mind off of her? She’s my wife, … I know I messed up, I know I made a mistake, But I can’t just let her go like that Tom”
“Well maybe you should have thought about how much you loved her before you got involved with Karis that night, I mean if you loved Evie so much then why did you do that to her?” Tom asks.
“I didn’t mean to do anything Tom and you know it, I was drunk and so was she, and it just happened, I know I messed up, ROYALLY, but I cant take back what I did” Bill says to Tom trying not to cry again.
“Bill, we know it was more then that night, you continued to see her, why? When Evie was here at home, waiting for you to get off tour.”
“I was lonely I guess, We didn’t do anything after that night we just, well, we just spent time together.” Bill tries to explain to Tom.
“Billa, Bree saw you guys kissing the night before we came home, don’t lie to me, If you were lonely, why didn’t you fly your WIFE out to come spend time with you? Shouldn’t she have been the one you wanted to spend your time with?” Tom questions Bill and gets up when he hears the coffee pot beeping.
“Yea, I did want to be with Evie, but we fought so much while we were away on tour, and she has her job and everything, I don’t know why Tom, I don’t know why I didn’t just bring Evie out, all I know is that I messed things up, she's gone now, and I have no idea what to do”
“Sugar and cream, Bill?” Tom asks quickly, Bill nods his head yes and Tom hands him his cup of coffee and he leans against the counter looking over at Bill.
“Maybe you just need to give her some time Bill, I know she loves you, and we all know that you love her, but you can’t just expect her to forgive you for what you did, at least not just like that, I mean she's hurting. You have to understand that Bill.” Tom tries to explain to his little brother while sipping on his cup of coffee.
Bill moves around on the counter trying to find a comfortable position, and he sets his cup of coffee down, looking at Tom.
“I know she's hurting, and that’s what is making things worse, Is that I know her pain is because of me, and I promised her that day, I would never do anything to hurt her, ever, and now look, I hate myself Tom”
“You don’t hate yourself, you’re just mad at the choices you made, you just need to wait, Give her time like I said, but in the meantime you cannot sit here alone in this house sulking and moping, its not going to make anything better, in fact its just going to make you even more upset Bill”
“But I cant bare to go out there and see you and Bree so happy together, and be reminded of how we used to be, knowing my Evie is alone and hurt and I can do nothing to make it better” Bill says again running his long slender fingers through his hair.
“Yes you can Bill, you have to, we have music to take care of , remember, your career, you can’t just let all that slip away because you made a mistake, don’t let everything go Bill, not like this.”
“But I want her back Tom, I want her, I need Evie, she is everything to me Tom, you don’t understand”
“Yes I do, because Bree is the same to me, I know what you feel for her, You just have to wait things out right now Bill, but come on please just lets go out or something, just for a while, or at least just come over to our place, just get out of here for a bit, that is all I am asking”
“Okay, just to your place that’s it, nowhere else Tom.” Bill says seriously, as he hops off of the counter, grabbing his coffee cup and puts it in the sink.
“Let me call Bree and tell her we are on the way.” Tom says to Bill before washing out both coffee cups and places them in the dishwasher.
“Okay, Let me go change my clothes then before we go” Bill makes his way into the bedroom and changes into something warm, and sees Tom looking at the wedding pictures Bill has on the mantle.
“I know, I should take those down but I just can’t yet” Bill mutters
“I wouldn’t expect you to have taken them down Billa, no rush, all in good time, right?”
“Right”
“Ready to go then Bill?” Tom asks him, Bill nods his head and they make their way to Tom and Bree’s house.
“Hallo Bill, nice to finally see you hun” Bree says giving Bill a hug. Bill smiles and hugs her back. Tom walks over to Bree and gives her a kiss.
“Hallo babe, dinner is almost done I hope you boys are hungry.” She says smiling.
“Were always hungry, you know that. Right Billa?”
“Yep, smells really good Bree, what are you making?” Bill asks her
“Spaghetti, got the bread in the oven and the salad is all ready.” She says fluffing one of the pillows on the couch.
“Wow, It’s been a while since I had real food, I mean Evie used to always,…yea” Bill trails off and then plops down on the sofa.
“Bill do you want anything to drink luv?” Bree asks giving Tom a worried look.
“Sure, Whatever Tom is having” Bill says staring down at his hands.
Tom follows Bree into the kitchen, to Bill and himself something to drink.
“Tom, is he ok?” Bree asks
“No, he’s so depressed Bree, he wants Evie back so bad but he knows he messed up. He still has their wedding pictures up and everything.” Tom tells her.
“Wow, really? Well, Evie still has her ring on” Bree explains to Tom.
“What? Really? When did you find that out?”
“Today, Evie came over for a while, when you were gone. She wanted to talk, she still has her wedding ring on, she still loves Bill, you can tell, she's just really hurt, but I still don’t agree with what she's doing.” Bree says
“I know, but that’s her choice for now, I mean I don’t like it either but there’s nothing we can do about it.”
He sat there quietly, watching the rain beat against the window pane in front of him.
