Tokio Hotel to rock Malaysia

POPULAR German pop rock outfit Tokio Hotel is set to play a Malaysian concert date in May. The band is part of the "Everyone Connect With Tokio Hotel" concert, sponsored by national telco TM, at Central Park Avenue, 1 Utama, Selangor on May 1.

It is the band's first foray to South East Asia. Formed in 2001, in a town called Magdeburg in Germany, Tokio Hotel's global reputation has been enhanced by recent chart success and tours in the United States after dominating the European music channels for more than two years now with striking video clips and charged-up pop punk tunes.

Promo tour in Souteast Asia is now confirmed

Tokio Hotel will be coming to Kuala Lumpur for promotion between April 29 to May 2 whereas the showcase will be on May 1. The showcase is going to be a big event (target over 2K audiences).

Yep, I don't understand why some fans don't just buy their album for a concert pass. I mean, the album is being sold at a really low price (RM29.90 is about US$7) which is almost dirt cheap in exchange for a ticket.

So for any Malaysian fans reading this and still have not won tickets, try getting the album at Rock Corner outlets all over KL. Crying on the radio is not gonna help, ladies. ;)

There is not so strong connection and efficient interaction around the world. We can talk to the people from Australia, Malaysia, Italy, USA at the same time and it's only natural to change information, opinion and wo9rry ahnd joy of the same things. We are all frojm different cultures, different backgrounds and we speak different languages, but in a weord way four German boys just have connected us in a way that it's so natural to interact. I think it's very rare.

Yes, I agree. I'm a member of other forums as well (TH's just one of many bands/artists I'm into) but I spend most of the time in this forum ever since I joined earlier this month. People here have a great sense of humour, probably because the boys themselves are a riot! And yes, what a diverse mix of people of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds. It's wonderful. :)

Oooo... Bill looks really fine with that dirty/grunge-look. He started to show that in Redenbogen already and I like to see it coming back. It's very freash after Humanoid-leather. And with the baby hawk I'd say:

Tom's cap.... needs some adjusting for me, but faithful to his nice sense of style, all are matching again in colors. I like that Dsquared-shirt he wore in MIlan and now. Did he read the comments yesterday how se spoke that we see him rarely on same clothes many times? :grin:
But yes, not bad, just needs a bit adjusting for me since I don't find that cap my personal favorite.

G's look fine too. Gustav's blue combination pleases my eye and looks like he left his bit cranky self to home. Very nice.

Conclusion: Tokio Hotel looks more fresh and relaxed than in ages in Asia!

It's kind of cute in a way how these boys make people go crazy. Partly it's sad, but it still amuses me to see how everyone is acting cool and are well-mannered before, but as soon as a glimpse of the boys is somewhere visible, everybody just lose their selfcontrol, forget all their manners and act like primal animals. lol no but seriously generally I just noticed the guys have been treated extremely well in Asia. I wish they were treated like that when they come to Mexico.

You know, that's something many people are talking about. How it seems to be okay for guys to like TH, too, not just girls. A lot of fanboys on a crowd and I think it's great. I don't know how much cultures like Japanese has affected on that, because this J-rock genre has kind of revolutionary look and since it's so popular, it's way easier for Asians to accept personalities like Bill, who is constsantly in the middle of debate in Europe and probablyt in America too. What do you think, Asian fans here?

That leads to an interesting question: TH has always had so "girly" fandom. Does it requer also adapting from them too to actually feel natural in front of totally different fanbase that they've used to? It is different after all and how they communicate with the part of fandom, where they suddenly has to use other means than just hormone driven communicate between opposite sexes?

I don't think it's much of a thing. We've had TH since the beginning, so we've had fans from young hormonal girls to older fans now and we've seen the scandals and the changes. In Asia, where JPop and JRock and KPop and all those genres have very feminine and androgynous men, Tokio Hotel aren't actually that bad compared to other bands. And they got Tokio Hotel round about at the mohawk era, so they just see what is presented to them now. So they don't judge as harshly.

This is somehow interesting clip. Nothing much happens, but it's a tinytiny glimpse of what happens outside the actua interviews (and I don't mind that it's mainly filming on Bill's crotch :laugh: ). It's from Nathalie Hitz from Hitz.FM, who interviewed the boys:

I don't know why, but for some reason I got a rush of warmth when I watched the concert clip. Partly because I missed seeing that live and partly because I suddenly felt so much love for this band...*happy sigh*

i think what Amdee mention about how Asians / Asian fanboys are accepting TH well is kinda true.

Being an Asian myself, i can say Jrock had definitely influence our way of looking at men with makeup. And you can even say those trends started out with fanboys. I remember in the late 90s, there's a lot of girls who started thinking "why the **** are those guys in makeup! they look like girls! eeewww!"

But at the end of the day, whether you're a girl or boy, you end up liking that style. And young boys WANT TO be in that style. It's weird but true. In fact, I realized, guy's with makeup/feminine features are so much more popular than those without. =/

And i can see why Asians started going crazy over Bill without even thinking twice HAHAHAHA!

About the Asia... I'm not really very familiar with Asia in general, either culture or people, so I use my limited knowledge, but what I noticed is that you really threat the boys very nicely, polite and with enthusiasm!

I think it's wonderful. I love to see them being respecyted the way they probaböly never have been in Europe. Without making Bill's hair or make-up or sexuality the main focus, but them as entertainers and musician and role models. It's wonderful!

But part of me feels also a bit sad because of it. Not that I don't want Asians to treat them so wonderfully, but because I know we can never do the same. I mean... what we (as we I mean Europe since I concider myself as European) can honestly give them (anymore)? All they've got the last years have been neglecting or scandal hunger media, LOTS of haters, critique and angry/disappointed or overly CFF'ish fans. It makes me sad to see that is this all we can give to them? Why would they stick with us? Right now, when seeing how more welcome they get in Asia, I don't see lots of reasons for that.

And yes, it bugs me that I can't change the world.

But just like I said, I didn't say this because I'd be bitter for Asians, but more like for disappiontment because of Europe.

I love how the fans didn't seem to be pushing and shoving and I loved Tom's smile. All the guys have been looking so much more relaxed and genuinely happy while they've been in Asia. That's nice to see.

haha you know... something that I've just sorta noticed watching Asian rock bands live and reading/watching interviews of those bands... I think fans in general in Asia are like... calmer? like... the crowds NEVER seem pushy or bad or anything. even with some pretty heavy rock bands over there. I always thought it was kinda weird HAHA

and then Asian bands that come over to Europe or America always comment on our 'energy' and I even remember one of my favorite Asian bands' lead singer saying a big, but cool, difference when performing in Europe was that fans were reaching for his crotch LMAO! like I guess that never happened to them in Japan and Asia? I guess us Western girls are just ANIMALS. RAWR ;) :laugh:
