Tough Love Chapter 17 Up-Complete! MESSAGE FROM AUTHOR--READ

So....I'm gonna try to write another fanfic...we'll see how it goes. Let me know what you think. I get bored at work so I need another one to keep me busy I guess! LoL! But really, gimme feedback guys!



Chapter 1

Erin sighed. She hated mornings more than anything. Almost as much as she hated school. Getting out of bed, she stumbled into the bathroom, showering and throwing on a pair of jeans with holes in them and a fitted shirt. Sneakers completed her outfit, and she pulled back her flowing brown hair. She threw on a bit of makeup and grabbed her books, snatching a granola bar on the way out the door. Her parents weren't home. They usually weren't. At least she didn't have brothers or sisters to get ready for school. That would really suck.

Locking the door behind her, she merged with the flow of sidewalk traffic, heading to her school where she could barely converse with people. She was still learning the language. Being an army brat did have its perks, but having to learn a new language every couple of years was not one of them. Erin had only been in Germany two weeks so far, and already this language was harder for her to learn than any other she had encountered.

Somehow, the day wore on and finally, Erin was able to leave. Walking quickly, she tossed an apron over her head. She had to get to work at the cafe where she waited tables. Not the greatest job in the world by far, but it gave her extra cash and kept her busy after school. With no friends at the moment, she needed something to kill time. By nine that night, her nerves were shot. The customers all evening had been rude and left crappy tips, and a few of them had almost made her unleash her wild temper. Finally, she was given the okay to clock out, and she did so gladly, stopping by the bathroom to reapply a bit of makeup before she left.

It was still early for her, and she was determined to enjoy some of this country. She had no curfew, she never had. Erin had always been a bit wild, as army brats sometimes are. Her parents were never home, which meant no rules. Even if there were, she didn't follow them. She governed herself. Rebellious was more her style. She followed the sound of thumping until she found the entrance to a noisy club, showing her ID to the bouncer. Thank goodness she had finally turned 18. She wasn't sure what the rules in Germany were, but she didn't take any chances. She just wanted inside. They let her past, and she headed straight for the dance floor. It was packed with teens gyrating their bodies against one another.

Once on the floor, she realized that she had no one to dance with. "So yea. What an idea this was," she thought, beginning to back up. The backed into something solid and felt a strand of hair, or something like it, hanging over her shoulder. Swinging around, she came face to face with a very cocky looking teenager with a lip ring. "You were doing it right the first time. You have to face THAT way to back it up on me." He nodded in the other direction, wiggling his lip ring with his tongue. Erin tried not to let herself get sucked into his brown eyes, but it was pretty hard, considering they were so gorgeous. She tried to take in his appearance without looking to obvious. He had on a pair of baggy jeans and at least two or three shirts, all about three sizes too large for him. His hair was twisted into dreadlocks which were pulled back in a bandanna, topped off with a cap.

Finally, she realized that she still hadn't spoke to the guy. "Uh, sorry. I was trying to leave. Didn't mean to bump into you." She tried to walk around him, but he blocked her exit. "I didn't want you to leave. I bumped into you." He was wiggling the lip ring again, obviously flirting with her. It was working. To be blunt, he had sex written all over him. He began to sway to the music, moving closer to her. "I'm Tom, and you are?" Deciding that this Tom guy was her ticket to a much better night, she went with it. "I'm Erin." She met him halfway, and their bodies began to move to the beat. He was a pretty good dancer, and she could tell by the way his hands touched her he was turned on by her moves as well.

Erin had not realized she could legally drink in Germany, and when she did, they ordered several rounds. She didn't let herself get too drunk, and she could tell that Tom wasn't too far gone either. The club was getting ready to close, but she wasn't ready for her fun to be over. "Wanna come back to my place?" she whispered in his ear. He nodded and slipped the bartender some money to pay for their drinks. Grabbing his hands, she slipped them around her waist and giggled, leading him out of the club. She saw Tom nod to someone in the back of the club, but she couldn't see who.

Chapter 2

Tom began to nibble and nuzzle her neck as they walked down the sidewalk, rather clumsily. People stared at them, but Erin really couldn't have cared less. She was having a good time, something she hadn't got to do in a while. And she had a pretty good idea that the good time wasn't going to stop once they got to her house, but was only going to get better.

When they finally arrived at her house, she began to swear as she dug through her bag for the key. Tom smirked, finding the whole scene amusing. "THERE! **** IT!" Erin opened the door, tossing the keys on the table beside it. Tom walked in behind her, not wasting any time wrapping his arms back around her. He began muttering things in German. "Woa woa. Hold on. If you're gonna speak, speak in English. I know you know it, and I don't know German yet. K?" Tom began to smirk again, his tongue doing things with his lip ring that really were beginning to look obscene. "All I was saying was that I couldn't wait to see what was under those clothes." Erin grinned. She could see that he was already undressing her with his eyes, and she was really in the mood to tease him a little bit and wear down some of his cockiness.

"Um, who said you were going to GET to see what's under them? You just assumed that I invited you over for that?" She could see he looked pretty bummed, and rejected, but was trying to recover quickly in hopes that he could work his way into her pants later. "Um, no? I just, well you were acting kinda like, um, so....." Erin walked over to him. Her plan had backfired a bit. The confusion on his face had made him even more irresistible to her, if that was possible. She had obviously had way too much to drink, and her inhibitions were way low. She really wasn't in a mood to care. She just wanted to have fun for one night. So far, this place sucked. "Come on Tom, chill out." Taking his hand, she pulled him toward her room. He followed her, kicking the door shut behind him.

The next morning, Erin woke up with a start. "Oh ****! What time is it?" A groan came from the bed beside her. Tom. She pulled her phone out from under her pants on the floor beside the bed. 7:45. She had to be at school in 15 minutes. Jumping out of the bed she took a quick shower and threw on clothes, unsure of whether or not they were clean or dirty. She kicked the lump under the covers. "Lover boy! Hey! Get up! I have to go!" The dreads spilling out over the pillow moved and Tom's face came into view. Rubbing his eyes, he tried to focus and turn on the charm. "Hey sexy." Erin rolled her eyes. "Not now Romeo. You gotta go, and so do I!"

Tom sat up, trying to gather his clothes. "Wait, do I get a number or something? We had a good time last night right? We could try that out again? You had good moves." He winked. Erin thought for all of two seconds. Tom was right. They had had fun, and he was hot. Really hot. And to be honest, his accent made her want to attack him right there. Ripping a piece of paper out of her notebook, she scribbled her number down. The piece of paper fluttered onto the covers beside him and he picked it up. Erin continued to race around the room, getting her books together and remember that she didn't complete a bit of homework she was assigned and didn't have anyone to get it from. When she turned around again, Tom was dressed. He followed her out the door and she locked it. "So, guess I'll see ya around?" she asked. He winked. "Yea, you might." With that, he turned and walked off, grabbing a handful of *** as he left.

Chapter 3

Erin stared after Tom for a moment, not sure if she should pretend to be insulted or turned on by his molestation of her backside. Instead, she did neither, and stood there like a fool with her mouth gaping open. Realizing this after he had already turned the corner, she finally closed her mouth. "Wow, that's so hot Erin," she thought. "Definitely worth a callback I'd say." Rolling her eyes, she remembered that she now had less than ten minutes to be at school and began to jog the six blocks.

Once again, the day was a drag and she had to work, being ragged on by less than appreciative customers. It was all she could do not to backhand a couple of them. She had no plans for the night, and her cell didn't ring once during the day. Not that she had expected it to. It was too expensive for her friends back in the states to call her, or any friends she had made in other countries. Her she was, stuck in Germany, and the only person that had her number besides her parents was-Tom. Her phone was vibrating. She slipped outside to answer it. "Hello?" She answered on the third ring, afraid he would hang up. "Hallo Sexy. Got plans for tonight?" She grinned. She didn't want him to think she was too easy, but did want a second night with Tom. He was fun. Definitely not the dating type, but totally worthy of a good time.

"I dunno, that depends. Would it be worth my while to NOT have plans?" She could tell by his silence that he had planned on her answer being no. "Well I'd say yes. I would make it worth your while. Unless you want to find someone....er...something else to do." Erin coughed, trying to cover up her laughter. "You, are a pig." Tom laughed too. "Yea, but you like it. So do you wanna meet up at the club again, same time?" She agreed and hung up, rushing back inside. When she got off work, she had a little time to spare to run home to change. Taking a quick shower, she was able to fix her hair and makeup, making herself more presentable. Finally, she dug a tiny black skirt from her closet and slipped an eyelet shirt over her head. She looked pretty hot when she actually put some effort into her appearance. Finding a pair of tall black boots, she slipped her feet into them and headed out the door.

Arriving at the club, she flashed her ID and walked inside. She made her way to the bar and ordered a drink, getting started without Tom. Erin felt a hand on her back and turned around, seeing Tom's eyes looking her up and down, obviously liking what they saw. She silently gave herself props for the wardrobe choice. He ordered a drink also and finished it off fairly quickly before dragging her off to the dance floor. This time, Tom was much more deliberate with his body. He wasn't at all shy about his intentions and ground against her every chance he got. Erin returned the favor and seduced him with her eyes, a trick she had perfected. Her skirt kept sliding up her legs, with Tom's help, and she had to keep slapping his hands to prevent the other men in the club from getting a peep show. Finally, Tom could take no more of it and all but carried her out the door.

Once again, they were all over each other walking down the street and people stared. Erin toyed with them, sticking out her tongue while Tom tried to capture it in a kiss. She let him once or twice but enjoyed teasing him much more. When they reached her house, she opened the door and they rushed off to her room. Tom was all over her, kissing her hard and pulling her shirt over her head. She was doing the same with him. Laughing, they tumbled onto the bed.



I know this chapter was a lot like the last one, but I promise, the next chapter changes it up. I just needed Erin and Tom to have another fling together. Things will begin to get even more interesting...just bear with me guys! :)

Chapter 4

Once again, Erin almost flew out of bed, late. "****! I have to go! Move it!" It was like a repeat performance of the previous morning: the hurried shower and clothes flying over her head, with Tom still lazily piled in the bed. Kicking him, Erin tried to tie a shoe and gather her books. At least this time they could skip the whole "can I have your number" charade.

Tom grumbled and sat up, slipping on his oversized shirt and haphazardly placing his hat on his head. "You know, this little act is beginning to make me think you don't like having me around." Erin looked up at him, almost toppling over as she was still trying to tie a shoe. He was smirking at her, wiggling his lip ring. She stood, poking out her chest and tossing her bag over her shoulder. "Well, maybe you should give me a better reason to want you to stay." Tom scoffed. "Yea, that's why you made all those noises last night." He pulled his pants on, and Erin gave him an evil eye, shoving him backwards. "Weirdest thing Tom, I couldn't hear myself over you." He grinned and followed her outside, once again, grabbing her butt and leaving.

She repeated this day as she had done the day before and went to work, expecting her phone to vibrate at some point. It didn't. She waited until halfway through work and checked to make sure her battery hadn't died. It was still full. Finally, she was able to leave, and flipped open her phone. No missed calls, no texts, no voicemails. Nothing. And from the looks of it, she wasn't getting any either. Sighing, she went home.

Two days later, and still no calls. She had spent two days going straight to school and work, then coming home. She was sick of it. There had to be something else to do. Though attracted to Tom, she didn't like him. He was a good time, and there had to be other good times out there. She was determined to find one. Finally, Saturday arrived and she rolled out of bed, not at all cheery. Showering, she dried her hair and pulled it back, not bothering to do much with it. She dabbed on a bit of eyeliner and lip gloss, leaving it at that. She had striking features, and that was enough for her. Slipping into a pair of black cargo pants and a fitted tee, she left.

She started with window shopping, since she still didn't know her way around very well. Erin stopped, walking into a store that had some interesting stuff on display. "Perhaps some new club outfits," she thought, and headed off to find her size. The store was small and the racks were jammed tightly together. Trying to move between them was tough and she backed into someone almost immediately. "I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, embarrassed. Looking up, she saw a pair of beautiful brown eyes. "It's alright," he laughed. "It's pretty cramped in here." The guy had black hair with blond streaks, pretty long for a guy. His nails were painted black as well with white tips. Not at all Erin's type, but very nice. And he had a set of killer eyes. That was a fact that could not be ignored.

"I'm Bill. What's your name?" Erin stuck out her hand. "I'm Erin." Once again, Erin found herself relieved that people spoke English here. She could tell he was German, but the first words out of her mouth were English, so that must have given her away. He looked at the shirt she had in her hand. "VERY nice choice. That will look awesome!" Erin really liked this guy. He had good taste. Pretty soon they were deep in conversation. "Well Erin, you wanna grab a bite to eat? There's a decent pizza place around the corner." Erin nodded, starving at this point.

Neither of them purchased anything, too frustrated with the cramped conditions to make it to the dressing rooms to try anything on. They walked to the pizza parlor, chatting. Taking a seat, Bill asked Erin how she ended up in Germany. "My parents are in the Army. I move a lot. So far, I've been here a grand total of two and a half weeks." They talked a while longer, and Erin could feel herself becoming very comfortable with Bill. There was something about him that was calming and kind. He was not the type of guy she found herself attracted to usually. And though she couldn't figure it out at the moment, there was something really familiar about him.

Chapter 5

Erin sat talking to Bill for almost an hour. He was interesting. His style was different from most guys, and he laughed a lot, which made Erin laugh a lot. He was fun, in a completely new way. He wasn't trying to find a way into her pants or throwing out super lame lines every two seconds. "Confident, but not cocky," she thought. Bill really was himself, every single minute, which Erin liked. The more she talked to him, the more she found herself attracted to him in ways she couldn't completely explain.

The entire time she sat talking to him she kept feeling like she had met him before. His eyes looked so familiar. His entire face looked familiar really. His features were so similar to those of someone else she knew, but she couldn't place it.

Bill glanced at his phone and mumbled something about the guys, but she didn't catch it all and wasn't sure who the guys were. "I really have to go now, but I had a great time. Would you like to hang out again sometime?" Erin nodded, thankful for the invitation. They exchanged numbers and parted ways, a smiled pasted on her face and she made her way back home. Just as she was thinking about Bill's gorgeous eyes, her phone began to ring. She flipped it open. "Hello?" A voice on the other end answered with "Miss me in the bedroom?" Tom. "What do YOU want?" "I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out later, maybe catch a movie." Erin thought about it. She didn't have plans. "Fine, whatever." Tom spoke up. "Well you don't have to sound too excited about it." Erin decided to make him squirm a big, if that was possible. "Do you want me to go or not? I mean, I just met a pretty cute guy earlier, and I can always see if he's free tonight. He was nice. Beautiful eyes too."

Dead silence. "Well, Sweetness, I bet he can't do it like I can. You can count on that." Erin smirked, even though Tom couldn't see her. "Well, maybe I'll get the chance to find out and then I can let you know." "Just meet me in ten at the theater." Tom hung up, and she could tell that she had gotten under his skin. "Good," she thought. He needs a little challenge. I doubt he ever has competition. Let him work for it a little." Arriving at the theater, she saw Tom waiting. As soon as she walked up, he grabbed her *** again, squeezing a littler harder than necessary. Eyeballing him, she whispered in his ear. "Listen up. You keep doing that, and I'm gonna start returning the favor, just as hard. Got it?" Looking him in the eye, she could see that Tom was turned on by her feisty attitude.

Tom bought their tickets and they went inside, settling in for a comedy. They didn't get past the opening credits. His lips were on her neck within seconds, the metal of his lip ring cool against her skin. They made out for the entirety of the movie, and she debated whether they should even stay for the remainder of it. They were both pretty hot and bothered.

Somehow, they made it, and found Tom's waiting car. He drove an Escalade. It was a hot ride. They didn't bother driving to her house, mainly because they couldn't make it that far. They found a secluded park and found a spot that wasn't well lit. His windows were tinted anyway. Another night for Erin, another good time with Tom. However, during the drive, she couldn't help but wonder what Bill was doing and when she would get to see him again.

Chapter 6

Tom parked the car, immediately pulling her into the backseat. Her lips met his in an urgent hunger, and she returned it, pulling his shirt over his head, his cap coming along with it. They tumbled around for a bit, Tom slamming his head into the back of the driver's seat when he tripped over his baggy pants. "****!" he exclaimed, as Erin sat giggling, drunk from his kisses. His charm intoxicated her to no end, and she always found herself wanting more of him.

Afterward, they lay sprawled out, breathing heavily. Tom raised up, flicking his lip ring again. "So this guy you met today. What was he like?" Bill's face floated into Erin's mind and she smiled, causing a frown to pass over Tom's face. "Well, he was pretty cute Tom, I'll tell ya. And he had the most gorgeous brown eyes." Tom widened his eyes, smashing his face against hers. "My eyes are brown." Erin giggled, shoving his face away. "No ****, you goof. But I dunno, Tom, his were sweeter." Tom began to bat his eyelashes, making Erin giggle even more. "Tom, you're an idiot!" Tom sat up, serious. She could tell that she was threatening his manhood. "Well, this fool may have pretty eyes, but he can't do this." Pressing his body against hers, he kissed her, his tongue finding its way into her mouth. Erin shivered.

Tom dropped her off at her house, and she let herself inside. Flopping down on her bed, she stared at the ceiling. Tom made her think crazy things. ****, he made her DO crazy things. He was her type. She was wild, crazy, and rebellious, just like him. Erin was a girl looking for a good time, and found it with Tom. And then there was Bill. He wasn't at all her type. He was different with his jet black hair and his painted nails. Bill hadn't kissed her, but had already made her get butterflies in her stomach. His eyes. They were so beautiful and mysterious, yet kind. And they were so familiar. Why couldn't she place them? She wanted to see him again, but didn't want to call him. She wasn't sure why she couldn't get him out of her mind.

Erin slept late the next morning, only waking up because her phone began ringing against her cheek. Jerking up, she squeaked, then grabbed it. "OOmpGH! Hello?" A voice on the other end. "Burgers!" Erin was barely awake, but this sort of talk didn't make sense when she was. "Huh?" she managed to get out. "My other favorite food! Are you hungry? Oh ja, this is Bill!" This was followed by a fit of giggles, making Erin laugh a little. That did explain the random outburst. "Oh! Hi Bill! Are you inviting me to lunch?" Bill began to giggle even more loudly. "Didn't you hear? Of course!" Erin grinned into the phone. "I would love to. Where do you want me to meet you?" Bill gave her directions and she hung up, practically bouncing out of bed. She danced into the bathroom and sang in the shower.

Walking down the street, she felt chipper. Erin was more than excited to see Bill. Unable to understand her attraction to him, all she could to was go with it. When she rounded the corner and saw him, her heart gave a little flutter and her breath caught. The eyes. They went straight through her, almost to her soul. She was lost in them. And for some reason, at that moment, instead of bedding down Tom, all she could think of was how wonderful it would be to have her lips against his.

I'm actually working on a chapter to A Life Changed right now...then will post another for Tough Love. I may not get a chance to post this weekend....so I am trying to get it done before I leave and go out of town. Hopefully...it will at least give you guys your fix. :) LoL!

Chapter 7

"Erin!" Bill greeted her with a smile pasted on his face. He seemed really happy to see her, and she swore that it was his smile that made the sun rise in the morning. Grinning, she walked up to him. "Hi Bill! He wrapped her up in a hug, his long arms going all the way around her tiny body. His chin was resting on top of her head, and she practically became putty. When he began to release her from his hold, she had to remind herself to back away and not cling to him. "Oh. My. God." It was the only thought running through her head. He was saying something, but she was trying so hard not to stare at his lips and his eyes that she had completely missed it. "I'm sorry, what?" He laughed, making her almost pass out right on the spot. This feeling was one she was not accustomed to. She was extremely out of her element. She was much more comfortable around Tom, acting sexy and wild. "I said you look pretty," Bill said. Erin felt a blush creeping up her neck. He must have saw it, because he laughed yet again and grabbed her hand. "Come on!" He dragged her inside.

The aroma of burgers filled her nose, and she found that she was actually very hungry. Bill ordered for them both, saying that she had to try one his way. She agreed. At the moment, she would have agreed to eat worms. Erin felt completely and utterly confused. She was like two different people. With Tom, she was a sex kitten, and with Bill, she was shy and quiet. Yet, she felt like they were both her. She wasn't pretending. Bill really made her feel this way, and she couldn't explain it. In no time, their burgers were ready, and Bill brought them over. Biting into hers, ketchup oozed down her chin, and Bill reached over to wipe it off, sending shivers down Erin's spine.

They didn't talk much while they ate this time, trying to keep the food in their mouths and off of their clothes and the table. Throwing away their trash, they left, and walking into the sunlight, Erin squinted. Bill walked out behind her. "So, would you like to do some shopping? We didn't get to finish yesterday." Erin nodded, anxious to spend as much time as possible with Bill. And shopping sounded fun, especially since he seemed to have such good taste. They began to walk to the mall, chatting along the way. She felt Bill's hand slip into hers. It was so soft, and she had to stop herself from giggling with delight. Tom didn't make her feel like this. Sure, she was always hot and bothered when they got together, but it was different. He made her feel wild and crazy, but Bill made her feel special. They both made her laugh and she had fun with them equally, just in different ways. Putting them together, you had the perfect guy.

Chapter 8

As she was walking with her hand entertwined in Bill's she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. Quickly reaching with her other hand, she pressed a button to make it stop. She didn't want any interruptions. Bill was telling her about his brother named Tommy, and how they did a lot of stuff together. "So, how old is he?" Bill smiled down at her. "He's the same age as me. We're identical twins. Well, he's ten minutes older actually, and he doesn't let me forget it." Erin laughed. She imagined Bill's twin, a look alike with the same jet black hair and black fingernails. What a sight. "I bet the two of them together are interesting, and pretty entertaining," she thought. Her phone went off again, and this time, she excused herself to step away and see who it was calling, having a pretty good idea already.

She was right. "What? Can't you go a day without me?" she asked without a hello. Tom took a moment to gain his composure, surprised that she was the one greeting him with attitude rather than the other way around. "You know that turns me on. Careful, or I will make you pay for that." Erin laughed. "Psh. Don't make promises you can't keep. Listen, I'm busy right now. I will call you back later okay?" He sounded a little bummed, probably because he needed his daily dose of sex. But it was a little early for that, and he could wait. "Fine, but only if you promise we can get together later." Erin chewed her lip. She had no idea how long she and Bill would hang out. "Not making any promises. We'll see. Later babe." With that, she hung up, knowing that her antics would keep Tom wanting more.

Returning to Bill, Erin slipped her hand into his and they set off to find clothing stores. The day flew by as they made their way throughout what seemed like miles of mall. Finally, Bill walked her home. It was around 11:00, and Erin was anxious to see where things would go from this point. Bill didn't seem like the type of guy that would come in with her. That thought was both disappointing and thrilling. Reaching the door, Erin could feel her stomach begin to twist into knots. How was it that Bill made her feel like this. She had never felt so confused with a guy before.

He stopped and looked down at her, putting his hand on her cheek. His hand was soft against her skin, and once again, his eyes were boring a hole right into her soul. He leaned in, closing his eyes. And then, his lips met hers with an explosion. She felt fireworks going off in her chest as his tongue slowly and gently worked its way into her mouth and touched hers. She returned the gesture, putting her arms around his neck and standing on tip toe. She felt metal, and realized that he had a tongue ring, something that made her shiver. The kiss only lasted a few seconds, but it was enough to make her knees weak and her heart flutter. Bill said goodnight, and walked away, leaving Erin breathless on her porch.

She was just turning the key in the lock when she felt a hand on her back. Whirling around, she felt a pair of lips on hers and a tongue in her mouth, again. But this one was much more demanding, and the metal she felt was from a lip ring. One hand was on her backside while another was inching its way up her shirt. Tom. Shoving him backward, she stood there, stunned. "What the ****?!" Tom grinned. "You know you liked every bit of it." Erin glared. Bill's kiss was a much better goodbye than Tom's was a hello. "A hi would have been sufficient." She finished unlocking the door and Tom followed her inside, trying to pick up where he left off.

Chapter 9

No sooner had she opened the door than Tom was on her again, pulling her shut over head while trying to do the same with his. The result was a tangled mess. "Tom!" Erin screached, causing Tom to laugh hysterically. With her arms caught above her head in her shirt, she was helpless as he somehow removed his arms from his own shirt. She squealed as he began to unbutton her pants, shuffling toward the bedroom. Erin looked up, trying to see through the neck of her shirt, but couldn't. She felt herself falling backwards, and Tom's hands on her stomach, easing her onto the bed. They were warm, and his touch made her shiver. His lips were on her neck and he finally released her from darkness as he slipped the shirt over her head. Pressing his lips against hers, he kissed her, this time, passion rather than raw intensity.

"Did you miss me?" he whispered into her ear, his breath tickling her skin. "Shut up and get busy," she giggled, hoping that would suffice for an answer, keeping her from having to lie. She hadn't missed him. When she was with Bill, Erin had been completely absorbed in him. But now that Tom was lying on top of her, kissing her and making her body quiver, she remembered why she enjoyed spending time with him so much. They worked. She wasn't sure if this was something real, but she thought she might like to see. But there was Bill. And after tonight, she knew that she was falling for Bill. He touched her heart in a way that she wasn't sure Tom could. But, would she and Bill make sense the way she and Tom did?

She woke up to see Tom staring at her. For once, she didn't have to rush off to school and toss him out. And this was one morning that she kind of wanted to. Not because she didn't like him, but because she did. She like him, and she like someone else. Her mind was a muddled mess. "So I have a question for you." Erin thought she might choke. She was nervous about this question. Tom apparently could see it written all over her face and chuckled. "Calm down, I'm not about to propose. I'm guessing since you're new to Germany and all, and since you didn't squeal the first time you saw me, you aren't aware that I'm in a band. We have a concert tonight, and I was wondering if you'd come?" Erin breathed a sigh of relief. Not as bad as she had thought. She nodded. "Sure, I think I could handle a concert. That sounds pretty fun. So what do you do?" He smiled. "I play the guitar." He reached over her, pulling a ticket out of the pocket of his pants, along with a VIP pass. "Here you go. This will get you in and then backstage afterwards."

Tom left shortly after, having to get back for a sound check or something like that. She layed around for a while, thinking, and finally got up to shower. As she got out of the shower, she heard a knock at the front door and hurried to open it. She almost slammed it shut when she saw Bill standing there and realized that she was in her robe, hair dripping wet. He smiled at her, and leaned down to kiss her cheek. "Good morning. I just wanted to stop by and bring you breakfast." She waved him in and he brought in coffee and bags of food. He looked back at her. "You look cute like that." Erin blushed and he walked over to her. "Listen, I can't stay. I have a really busy day today, but maybe we can hang out tomorrow?" Erin nodded, and Bill kissed her lips, full of tenderness. With that, he turned to leave, closing the door with a wink.

None of this was making things any less confusing. She sat down, eating a bagel and sipping the coffe he had brought. Once again, butterflies filled her stomach as she thought about Bill and his kisses, his eyes. She spent the day lounging around the house, watching cartoons and thinking of both Bill and Tom. Finally, after hours of shuffling around, she began to get ready for the concert, straightening her hair and applying makeup, a little more than usual. Picking out a pair of tight jeans and a black tank top, she put them on and left, walking to the venue.

Chapter 10

As she approached, Erin heard, and then saw, hundreds of squealing girls. "What the ****?" she thought. She hadn't expected this. Apparently, Tom and his band were pretty big over here. Erin found a spot in line, and waited patiently to get inside, before a burly looking guard ushered her inside ahead of the others, seeing her VIP pass hanging from her neck. Looking toward the stage, Erin saw masses of girls standing around. She made her way over to them, finding a spot behind them. She saw signs that had random things written on them. "I love you Tom!" and "Marry Me Bill!" seemed to make up the majority. Apparently a guy in the band was named Bill. This made her think of her own Bill, with his brown eyes and jet black hair, and she felt a pain in her gut. She wondered what he had planned for the night.

She didn't have to wait long before the lights went out and the music started. Four guys ran onstage, one running to the drumset, one carrying a bass, one a mic, and Tom with his guitar. He looked SO hot. And he could play. Erin was in a trance watching him. He saw her in the crowd and winked. She had to admit, the band was good. She loved the music, and the lead singer had a beautiful voice. A voice that sounded familiar. Erin focused her attention on him, trying to detmerine why this was. He was tall and thin with black hair that was standing up and out. His eyes were lined with smokey black eye shadow and liner. "He's hot. Really hot," Erin thought. Looking closer, she saw that there were blonde streaks in his hair. Suddenly, it hit her like a ton of bricks. She felt her mouth go dry. "Oh ****. Oh **** oh **** oh ****," she heard herself saying. The girl next to her turned, squealing. "I KNOW! They are SOOOOO hot aren't they?!" Erin looked at her, and just nodded. She turned back, looking up at the singer. It was Bill. HER Bill. It all made sense now. The Bill the signs were about. Bill had said he was busy tonight.

Erin glanced back over at Tom. He winked at her again and she smiled weakly back. And then she remembered something else. Something Bill had said. He had mentioned that he had a brother named Tommy. A TWIN brother. Erin felt nauseated. She looked back and forth between the two of them. They looked so different! It couldn't be possible. "Please God let it be a lie," she thought. She was sleeping with one, and falling for the other. She spent the rest of the show feeling ill, watching in horror as they continued rocking the house as girled screamed their names. Finally, the show ended, and Erin thought about running the other direction. Instead, she headed backstage, still sick to her stomach, but wanting answers. She showed her pass, and was pointed in the direction of the guys.

Chapter 11


Erin was directed to a room where she could wait for the band. She had no clue what to say, or do. Tom was going to walk up to her, and probably grab her rear. And Bill was going to be bewildered that she was even here, let alone knew Tom. And the fact that she liked both of them made this whole thing a mess. The door opened, cutting her thoughts in half. She looked up, her heart dropping. Both Bill and Tom walked in at the same time. Bill stopped, but Tom started to walk toward her. "Erin?" Hearing Bill speak her name, Tom stopped, confused, and looked at his brother. "Wait, how, what, how do YOU know her?" Bill looked from Erin to Tom. "Wait, YOU know her?" They two of them looked from each other to Erin, waiting on an answer. The two other band members had walked in by this point, observing the whole scene. She glanced at them nervously. Bill saw this, and turned to them. "Give us a few minutes guys, okay?" They nodded, and headed back out the door, closing it behind them.

Erin looked at Bill. "So, you said you had an IDENTICAL twin Bill, named TOMMY. He doesn't look identical to me. And his name is TOM." Tom spoke up. "Erin, we are identical, but we aren't five. We don't dress alike, so with my dreads and his dyed hair and makeup, we look different. And it's TOMI, a nickname. My name IS Tom. That still doesn't explain how the **** you know both of us." Erin sighed. "I just, do. I met Bill at a clothing store." Tom nodded his head knowingly. "So he's this guy you've been talking about huh? With the brown eyes?" Erin blushed, remembering her big talk. She glanced over at Bill, who was looking really confused. He cleared his throat. "And how do you know Tom, Erin?" She felt her head getting dizzy. Her and Tom's meeting was not nearly as innocent as theirs. Or, it hadn't ended that way.

Erin looked down. "We met at a club." Tom snorted. "Yea, and that's ALL that happened." She glared over at him. "You are such a jerk. Really." Erin walked over to Bill, and saw that he was hurt. "Bill, I swear, I had no idea about you and Tom. But I really care about you. I have...feelings for you." She heard Tom piping up on his side of the room. "What, and you don't have feelings for me? All those nights were just nothing?!" Erin spun around, facing Tom. "Oh please! I was just another notch on your belt and you know it. Tom, you feed my wild streak, that I will give you. But, I don't think you could ever make me feel appreciated or cared for. Do you?" Tom glared back at her, finally stalking out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

Erin turned back to Bill, his faced a mixture of hurt and anger. She looked up at him. "Why didn't you tell me you were in a band, a band that was apparently um, shall we say famous?" He looked down into her eyes, and she saw that his were beginning to shine with tears that he was fighting back. "Erin, I wanted to find love without THIS life tainting it. I wanted to find someone who cared for me because of who I really am, not because of what I do. I thought I had. But, now I don't know. Who are you...really? Which girl....the one that....hooks up with some guy she meets at a bar? Or the one I know? Do you even know?" Erin felt the tears behind her own eyes, but she bit them back. "Bill, I...I'm both. Or was. You make me want to be a better person. I never felt with Tom what I do with you....what I feel for you is real." "But you continued to sleep with him, and see me anyway." He turned and walked out the door, leaving her standing alone in the room with a VIP pass she wished she had never gotten.


So..at this point in the story, I think I am going to start writing from both Bill and Erin's point of view. Just giving everyone a head's up for the next chapter. :) Hope you're still enjoying it.

Chapter 11


He looked down into her eyes, and she saw that his were beginning to shine with tears that he was fighting back. "Erin, I wanted to find love without THIS life tainting it. Chapter 12


Erin

Erin stood there, feeling her heart ache. She knew now that she had made a huge mistake. She should never have continued to hook up with Tom. As a matter of fact, she probably never should have to begin with, but she had. She had done it and enjoyed it. And the minute she had started to have these feelings for Bill, true feelings, she should have stopped things with Tom, because she had known deep down that he was just fun, nothing more. Her heart didn't flutter with him the way it did with Bill. He was simply her good time, feeding her need to get out and "go wild." But Bill had shown her a different side, a side of herself that she liked, someone she really wanted to be. She had hurt both him and herself. She felt a tear sliding down her cheek and brushed it away. How could she have been so stupid?

She walked to the door, peeking out. No one was there. Erin could still hear the screaming girls out in the arena, but there was no sign or Bill, Tom, or the other guys. She slipped out, heading for a back exit to escape the masses. There was no way Bill would have time to talk to her tonight, with all of the fans waiting for him. Maybe she could call him tomorrow and they could have lunch again and talk things through.

The night was lonely, and arriving home, Erin peeled off her clothes and climbed into bed, hugging her pillow and staring at her phone. She waited for it to ring, hoping that Bill would forgive her. She fell asleep sometime around 3AM, staring at the screen. She didn't wake up the next morning until 10, the sun beaming through her curtains. She immediately searched through the sheets for her phone, praying she had missed a call or text, but found none. Taking a deep breath, she searched her phone book and pressed dial. "I have to talk to him."



Bill

Bill looked at his phone, checking the ID. Erin. He sighed, unsure if he should answer. His mind was a mess right now, all jumbled up with thoughts. And his heart, well, it was even worse. It was a wreck. He wasn't IN LOVE with Erin...YET...but he had felt something for her, something strong. He felt a connection with her the second he met her, and it continued to get stronger everytime he was with her. And when he kissed her, it was something that he couldn't describe. And now he couldn't help but wonder if Tom had felt the same thing. The thought made him sick. He looked back down at his phone, pressing the ignore button and leaning his head back against the soft cushion of the plane seat.

Tom returned from the bathroom and sat down beside him, seeing his phone. "Cheer up Bill. We're on our way to the states man! Mini tour!" Bill felt his chest heave with a sigh. "I know. I'm just....not in the mood right now." Tom rolled his eyes. "Come on...is this about Erin?" Bill straightened at the mention of her name from Tom. It was still so weird, the whole situation. "Yea, she just called me, but I didn't answer." Tom patted his knee. "Look, I dunno if she's your type. I mean, she's uh...well...pretty wild." Bill shot his eyes at Tom, a warning glance, which did the trick and shut him up. "You didn't see the side of her I did. She's different Tomi." Tom shrugged. "So call her then." Tom tilted his head back and dropped some Skittles in his mouth. Bill sighed again. "I....can't. I just don't know how to feel about all of this right now." Hopefully, three weeks away would clear his thoughts. Maybe he would talk to her during the time away, maybe not.

Chapter 13



Erin

It had ran three times before going to voicemail. Erin's heart sank, and she fell back on her bed. She could only hope that Bill was still asleep or busy, and try to call again later. Or text him. She should try a text. Picking her phone back up, she punched the buttons. "Please call me back when you get a chance. I need to talk to you. Let's have lunch." She pressed send and let the phone fall back to the bed with a bounce. Somewhere along the way, things had gotten so complicated here in her new home. She had started out with no one, then somehow had met Tom, intending on going nowhere with him, yet somehow, ending up in bed with his charm. She had given in to loneliness and the need for companionship, continuing to sleep with him. And then she had met Bill, complicating things even more. Bill, with his tender eyes and soft touch. Erin felt a twinge of guilt once again as she remembered the look of pain and distrust in his eyes as he realized she was like two different people. And he had been right.

Erin continued to lay around the house, waiting for a response from Bill. When he didn't return her call or text her back within the hour, she called again, leaving a message. She tried to watch TV, some lame cartoons, but nothing took her mind off of things. Everywhere she looked she saw his face, stricken with pain. By late afternoon, and three more calls and two more texts later, she knew. Bill was ignoring her. She slumped into a chair and buried her face into a pillow, wetting it with tears. Erin knew what she had done was wrong, but she was trying desperately to fix it. Now, she didn't know how to get in touch with him or find him. All she could do was pray he still cared.



Bill

Tom tried the entire flight to cheer him up. Bill just wasn't in any mood to be cheerful. It didn't help that Erin kept calling and messaging him. Everytime her name came up, his heart fluttered and then felt like it was blown apart each time. He wanted so badly to pick up the phone and talk to her, to hear her voice, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it yet. He needed time. When she left him a voicemail, he checked it, and felt a wave of emotion hearing her. She sounded upset, and he felt bad for ignoring her. Tom nudged him. "Bill, just call her." Bill looked over at his brother. "Tom I CAN'T. You don't understand. I actually CARE for her. A lot. Things were different for us. And...she...she....slept with you. I...the thought makes me sick to my stomach." Bill had heard Tom talk about his experiences with girls. It killed him inside to think of Erin and Tom in that way, doing those things. He winced at the thought. "Come on Bill, she was kissing you! I'm not taking it that hard. I mean, yea, it's gross and all, but...still. And she didn't KNOW we were brothers."

Bill turned, looking Tom in the eyes. "Tom, do you care about her? I mean, REALLY care? Any more than you do for the other girls you sleep with?" Tom hung his head a bit. "Well, nein. I mean, she's a nice girl, but, it was just fun." Bill nodded. "Yea, well, I DO. Tom, I'm falling for her. And I know she was falling for me. She should have broke things off with you, regardless of whether she knew or not. I don't know if I can look at her the same, knowing what she's done with you. I will always picture it in my mind." Tom nodded, putting a hand on his brother's shoulder. "So, your alternative is to ignore her and break both of your hearts, since your falling in love? Come on Bill, she doesn't love me and I don't love her...we just...acted stupid. That's it." Bill sighed. "I don't know Tom, I really don't know. I'm hoping the time away will give me a chance to think, and figure out what to do. Right now, everything hurts to bad." He closed his eyes and felt his phone going off again.

Chapter 14



Erin


It had been a week. A very long week. She had continued to try to call Bill for a few days, but he never answered or returned her messages. Erin has stopped trying after she had called Tom and he had explained to her why Bill was ignoring her. He was hurt and needed time. Erin didn't agree that this was going to help things, but apparently, the ball was in his court, and she had no choice but to accept it. Tom had been really nice to her, listening to her whine and cry for a while before he had to go and she had been moping around ever since. She had lost weight, barely eating and had called in sick to work twice during the week, not wanting to get out of bed, which wasn't like her at all. Erin kept replaying how everything had played out over and over in her head, imagining all the ways she should have done things differently. There were plenty, and all of them involved NOT sleeping with Tom. Each time she remembered the tender kiss between herself and Bill, she felt moist tears form in her eyes and streak her face.

Erin had never really believed one could fall in love so fast. Her parents' had always had a rocky relationship and every other one she had seen had been less than successful. Love took a lot of work and commitment, and she had never believed that was something that came so easily. Definitely not something that transpired from two or three days, right? Or did it? She was beginning to doubt everything she had ever believed about love. Her heart was shattering with every second that passed that she didn't hear from Bill. Every time she thought of his eyes and the time they spent together, she wanted to bury her face in her pillow and scream until her lungs exploded. She had just planted her mouth and nose in her fluffiest one and was preparing to do just that when on the eighth day since the boys had been gone, her phone rang.



Bill


He sat staring out of the window of his hotel in California, watching people walk by holding hands and snuggling up to one another. It made him want to throw rocks at them, a feeling that Bill had never been accustomed to feeling. He was always so kind and sentimental. Being the angry one was not something he was used to. Erin had finally stopped calling halfway through the week. He wasn't sure why, though he guessed she had simply gotten tired of calling. His heart was still aching from not talking to her, but he was still simply unable to do it. After being in the states for a week with the band, Bill had done several interviews and a couple of concerts, still not feeling any better than when he first arrived.

He turned his head as the door opened and Tom walked in, coming over to him and sitting down. "Bill, it's time you call her. I know you don't want to, but you need to at least tell her why you won't answer and that you will talk to her when we get back to Germany." Bill looked down. "You right," he sighed, slowly reaching down to get his phone. "I just....wanted to put it off. It's really hard to hear her. I keep replaying her voicemail and everytime it just cuts me deeper you know?" He felt Tom's hand pat his leg as he got up and left.

Searching his phone book, he found her name and pressed dial, watching it connect before putting the phone to his ear. It rang twice before her soft voice answered. "Hello?" She sounded like she had been crying, which made him want to hang up right then. "Hey..." he said quietly, barely audible. "Hey..." she said back. Neither of them spoke for a couple of seconds, and then Erin began talking really fast. "Bill, listen, I'm so sorry about everything and I really want to talk to you about it in person but I just didn't get to see you before you left and I know what I did was wrong but I can't take it back now and I just really want to make it up to you please don't have me forever...." "Erin, please....stop." She did, and he heard her breath catch. "I....I want to talk to you too, but in person. This is really hard, and...I just called to tell you that I'm gonna be in the states for two more weeks, and then we'll be back in Germany. That's where I've been all week and why I haven't called. I just...couldn't. I needed some time, and I still do. It hurts too bad right now. I need to think, and when I get back, I promise, we'll talk." She didn't speak for a while, and then a soft "okay, I understand" before the line went dead.

Chapter 15



Erin

After Bill’s call, she sank into a heap on the floor and cried, not moving for almost an hour. Her heart could barely even beat. She just wanted to stay there and let her body turn to stone, hoping that it would take away the pain she felt. Anything would be better than hurting the way she did at that very moment. The next two weeks went by slowly for her, almost at a crawl, and it was all she could do to manage school and work without bursting into tears at any given moment. Tom called to check on her a couple of times, trying to tend to both her and Bill, playing a very challenged Cupid. She had to admit, he was not too bad of a guy considering the way he had acted before with her, given their history. He had asked her how she was holding up, and she had said she was okay, but she hadn’t told him everything. She couldn’t. A lot had been going on with her these last two weeks. The stress had overwhelmed her and she had found only one place to release her anxiety.

Finally, Bill called again. She almost dropped her phone when it rang, her heart almost stopping for fear that she would break it and wouldn’t be able to talk to him. Finally, her fingers were able to grip it and flip it open. She answered, and his soft voice spoke to her, asking if he could come by her house to speak to her. Of course he could. He told her he would be there in about twenty minutes, which gave her just enough time to shower, throw on clothes, and dab on a bit of makeup to hide the circles under her eyes. She opted for a long sleeve shirt and jeans, and had just pulled back her hair when Bill knocked on the door. She hurried to answer it, and there he stood, his eyes burning a hole through her.



Bill

Two more weeks had been agony for Bill, and he hadn’t figured out any more than he had the first week of his stay in the states except that he was definitely falling for Erin. And that was something that he already knew. Only with every passing moment, he knew it more and more. All he could hope at this point was that when he saw her, he would know what to do or say. He barely had time to bring in his bags when he arrived back home before he was on the phone, calling her and gone again, heading off to see her. As he walked, he thought of all the possible scenarios in his head, and ways that things could play out. They all ended differently, and each one left him puzzled. He was so caught up in his thoughts that he walked past her house, then turned around, and arrived at the door. Bill closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to ignore the beating of his heart and slow his pulse. He knocked and heard her footsteps on the other side of the door. The door opened, and there she was. Erin looked beautiful, as she always did to him, with her hair pulled back and her long sleeved tee on. He could tell that she was thinner, and her face looked gaunt, but she still was so perfect to him. He felt the familiar butterflies dancing in his stomach. She moved aside so he could come in, and they found seats in the living room, facing one another on the couch.

They sat quietly for a moment, looking at each other, before she began to speak. He watched as she rubbed her forearms subconsciously. “Bill….I’m so sorry. What I did was unforgivable, yet….here I am asking for your forgiveness. Please…I….I….I think I love you Bill.” He could tell she was surprised to say the words, and he wasn’t sure if he should say them back to her or not. He felt like he was there as well. His heart took control over his mind as he reached out to her, pulling her close. “Erin, I…think I love you too…” He looked down into her eyes, which were brimming with tears. Leaning in, he touched her lips with his and kissed her tenderly, feeling his own emotions nearing the breaking point. Bill felt such passion in this kiss, such love. And then, he saw Erin, and Tom, together in bed, and his heart dropped into his stomach. He saw them making love, her arms around Tom’s back, clinging to him as she kissed him, the same way she was kissing Bill now. He saw their naked bodies melding together and he felt bile rise in his throat at the image. Bill pulled away as tears beginning to spill over. “Erin….I don’t think it’s going to work. I want it to so bad…but…all I see is you…and Tom. And…I can’t deal with that. He’s my twin brother…and the image of the two of you together kills me. Please understand that. I just…I have to go.” He saw her face crumple along with her body as she sank to the floor as he turned to leave.

Chapter 16



Erin

When he had kissed her, she had finally felt herself relax, feeling the warmth and passion in his lips. It was beautiful, and she felt the sparks again. Then he pulled away, and she knew it was over. Erin saw the familiar pain in his eyes and she watched him walk away, not the rock star she had watched onstage that night, but just a broken man, her Bill. The man she loved and wanted more than anything to love her back. She rubbed her arms again beneath her shirt and sank to the floor as he left, sobbing. Things would never be the same again. This was it. She had lost her last chance to be with him.

She stayed there for two hours, staring at nothing. Finally, she went to the box in her bedroom, hidden under her bed where she kept her things. They had become her best friends these last two weeks, and now she needed them more than ever. She got them out, putting everything together and in order. She felt a familiar feeling, almost a calm, if there was one for her these days. She cried, again, feeling her emotions overtaking her. And then, she began to feel her heart racing. Faster and faster. THIS wasn’t normal. It felt like it was about to explode. She clutched her chest, trying to stop it. Reaching for her phone, she dialed the only number that mattered to her.



Bill

He had returned to Tom, the person he should hate for ruining the relationship he had finally found, but yet the only person he knew would get him through it. It was an irony that was not lost on Bill, but he didn’t find it funny or amusing or any of the things that people did in the romantic comedies you saw in the movies. He found it painful. Tom met him with a hug and pizza, knowing that things had ended badly with his twin gut. Bill told him what had happened, and saw Tom wince and lower his eyes when he told him why he had left. He mumbled an apology, though it really wasn’t his fault, when Bill thought about it. Tom had no way of knowing he was sleeping with the girl Bill was falling for. They sat there for a while, not talking. Bill loved that about his brother. He always knew when he just needed him to be there, but not talk. A hand on his shoulder said all that was needed. They stayed this way for quite a while, losing track of time. Finally, Bill’s phone rang, and he looked down at it, seeing Erin’s name flash. He almost didn’t answer, not wanting to rehash things yet again, but something told him this was different, and his flipped it open.

He never even got out a greeting. Her strained voice was in his ears and he could hear her shallow breaths coming in and out. “Erin? What’s going on?” She was trying to speak, but it sounded like she couldn’t. He strained to hear, pressing the phone to his ear. “Bill…..you have….to know….I really….do…..love you…with….all…of…my…heart………..” “ERIN! Why are you talking like that? What’s happening?” He heard a thud, and then silence. He panicked, jumping from his chair and racing through the door, Tom right behind him. He ran all the way to her house, Tom on his heels every step of the way. The closer they got, the more worried he became, sure that something terrible had happened.

As her house came into view, he broke out into a sprint, his feet barely touching the ground as he raced to the door, finding it locked. He pounded and pounded, tears streaming down his face. He heard glass shatter and saw Tom disappear through a window and the door opened in front of him. They thundered down the hall and into her room. Erin was on the floor, her phone by her head, a needle sticking from her arm. Tom began dialing emergency and Bill dropped to the floor beside her, cradling her limp body in his arms as sobs began to rack his own. “Erin……I love you….please….don’t….don’t….leave me……”

Chapter 17

Bill walked down the street alone, thinking about Erin. The day they met, the first time he had held her hand, their first kiss. And then everything else. All of the bad times. So much had happened. It had been so painful after such a wonderful beginning. Two weeks had passed since that fateful night when he had lost her. Looking up, he saw the bridge come into view. The bridge where it would all end. Nothing would be the same after this. Bill thought of the words he wrote about Erin. Her song. “On the Edge.” He knew he loved her, and now, everything that had happened with Tom didn’t matter to him. What he and Erin had, that was real. Sighing, he looked at the bridge again. Closer it came.

He climbed to the top of the bridge, staying on the walkway, looking down. It was so high. He closed his eyes, feeling the soft breeze blow his hair. He saw Erin’s face in his mind and smiled. She was so beautiful. Then, another image. The image of her lying there with the needle in her arm. It still haunted him. It broke him to know he had no clue she had been doing such a thing, and that he had caused it. He shook his head, trying to make the image go away, and felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned, and there she was, a bag in her hand.

The paramedics had arrived and began to work on her. She hadn’t been gone long, but long enough to make things a long shot. They needed a miracle. Bill knelt by her, holding her hand and whispering in her ear. He had told her he loved her, and that he needed her here with him. They continued to work on her lifeless body, and then, suddenly, she had taken a breath. It was as if his words had been oxygen to her, breathing life into her body.

Now, two weeks later, she was standing in front of him, looking up into his eyes, smiling. “Hi Beautiful,” Bill said, smiling down at Erin. She hugged him, and he squeezed her, never wanting to let go. He had that problem as of late. Her weight had finally begun to come back, and her eyes weren’t so dark. The healthy glow was back. She held out the bag, and Bill opened it, looking inside to see all of the needles and drugs that had almost taken her from him. HAD taken her from him, for several terrifying minutes. Together, they held it and reached out over the bridge. Here, it would all end. Things would be different from here on out. They counted to three, and released, watching it drop to the water below. Bill pulled her to him, and kissed her, feeling the fireworks explode between their lips. “I love you,” they said in unison, causing them to giggle. Her scars would stay forever, but she HAD come back.
