Spam Private Messages

There's been a problem recently with private message spam. The messages will say that it's from an admin, and then it will ask you to click a link to download something.

These spam messages are not from admins. Do NOT click on the links or download anything they ask you to.

If the Forum staff has something they need to communicate to you, they will either PM you directly from their own account, which credits them as being a member of the staff, OR we will announce it here.

We will NEVER tell you that you must download something from an outside, unfamiliar source.

I'm not sending anything!!!! This is the first time I've written in the Forum. I sweep my computer every week for viruses. If you delete my account for not using YOUR virus check then I will send a statement saying that your message is SPAM itself. I am a huge TH fan but I won't put up with that. Asmus-Kaulitz

excuse me? you are asking ppl to scan from a LINK!

you never scan your computer from another IP.

that message with the link you sent is a scanlation that infects your computer with porn.

you are infecting others! if one must scan for infections on THEIR drives. they will use NORTON or other known sources of trusted scanning!

you should be reported! how are you getting the files of others? im curious if you IP is the one IVE tracked. i will hack you OWn computer if i must.

yes i got a message from Paul Knorr myself i didn't realize he was a fake until i went to his home page and realized he was banned from the forum ugh i don't get why people want to infect peoples computer!!!

well really there can be possibilities.

this person who sent it was hacked.

other possibilities are more difficult to explain.

its a known pop-up. you could be doing nothing horribly wrong at all and itll just decide to override your computer protection and infect it.

its a leech virus. itll be attatched to certain webs that is known for many to go on. and itll just randomly pick a 'victim.' it CAN override ur protection.. but it also can be stopped.

it has attempted to attack my computer more than once then i made a "gaurd dog" to track it. now i have the IP address from where it came from and from what it seems... its a man made virus- obviously every computer virus is created but this one has a unique IP..

The person who sent it wasn't hacked, the were a spammer who joined to send out virusy spam. It's like the 5th one we've had this year.

I'm gonna lock this, since announcements aren't really a conversation place and cause I think some of you are just going to start freaking everyone out here soon.
